6:20 when i got my hands on this issue (which i still have to this day) i got soo excited about the way those Ork and Imperial vehicles looked that i made my own 28mm versions using card stock and plastics. i still have them too. The Ork Battlewagon is a skirmish board in and of itself and great fun to roll onto the table :D

As a small correction to the release history at 14:20 . The plastic Baneblade was first released only with the Baneblade and Hellhammer configuration (I had bought that kit twice during 5. Edition 40k). The "turretless" variants were released as a second kit later (2009 if I'm correct). The Rebox with all variants, das was shown in the video was maybe 2019.

That's the problem with these youngsters covering stuff which they weren't experiencing first-hand - there are always some inaccuracies. I had that Baneblade kit as well and it had far fewer sprues inside (and was much cheaper) than the current kit. I also had the Armorcast resin kit - the track units were cast in open molds with a dark grey resin and they were larger on the sides that fitted against the hull due to uneven thermal expansion at the mold opening. I never got to build either unfortunately due to life issues - at least these folks are getting to enjoy their kits
@emmachine27

@@elrondorio Don't know if I would still count as a youngster with 34 years 😅. Yeah the Baneblade was definitly cheaper when I bought my first two. I'm actually not entirly sure if anymore if I paid 85,-€, 90,-€ or 95,-€ back than.

13:53 the baneblade in the back is the original forge world one you're referring too. The easiest way too tell a plastic from a resin baneblade is the size of the rear fuel drums and the non-modular sponsons. 14:05 Bit confusing but I believe this is one of the interim shadowswords as its built off a plastic baneblade chassis. IIRC they did keep selling these resin ones for quite a while after the plastic shadowsword released 14:15 The original Baneblade kit only built the baneblade and hellhammer variants. This was followed up later by a separate kit that built all the shadowsword casemate variants. It was many years later that a '1 box builds all' kit was released. I'm not sure if this new kit used new sprues or they just chucked everything in one box, but i think it might have been the former. Still i think everything else is correct, cool to learn about the history of the glaive name. Love your final paintjob!

For future reference, Forge World has been more than accomodating sorting out spare parts for me even when I wasn't the purchaser. Usually the batch number on the actual box/bag and pictures of what you've got are enough for them to approve this sort of thing. I expect those parts were broken after the parts were checked from the weight of the other chunks of resin being jostled around in transit. I've had similar issues which are very frustrating.

@Rottenflieger.
@Rottenflieger. 2 жыл бұрын
@@reddragon4482 As I say it's frustrating, but not much you can do with resin I suppose, it's a fragile material. Not much they can do when the stuff breaks during the journey from the store to you. Most 3rd party stores I've bought from have the same sort of problems with resin parts. Offering free replacements isn't ideal but I'm not sure what the alternative is, save getting the buyer to print the model themselves.
@reddragon4482

@@Rottenflieger. How much is bubble wrap lol?! No excuse. For the prices they charge they can pad the box and pieces better, it's ridiculous. This isn't a one off too, it happens all the time and they don't give a fuck and charge insane prices for resin, if resin is so expensive why don't they protect it more lol.
@Rottenflieger.
@Rottenflieger. 2 жыл бұрын
@@reddragon4482 Not sure what to tell you, every large kit I've got from FW has had the components wrapped, as well as the outside of the box. Some kits, like my macharius, did have damaged parts like in the video. Others like my spartan did not. Bubble wrap doesn't solve everything I suppose. It's not a great situation, but free replacements are free replacements. The amount of entirely replaced kits I've had is pretty funny when I come to think about it.

@@TabletopTime it would be quite nice if they did upgrade kits for the base tanks tbh, but that's because the Typhon looks cool but I also have an unassembled Spartan here so if I could just buy the massive cannon bit I'd have a Typhon. Man, that thing looks AMAZING! Great work and a sweet, sweet paint job! However, I must say, the more I see of the Forgeworld models on KZbin, the more I am appalled by the quality of the kits. Every single one I've come across on youtube had major issues with warping (which, ok, is an integral part of resin, I know, I've been printing resin models for quite a while now), broken or downright missing pieces. I really feel that for that price, we should expect a lot more in terms of quality control.
@kaneworsnop1007

For decades decent small resin casting businesses never send out warped casts, the main cause of warping is demoulding to soon when the resin is still too soft, baisically FW putting quantity over quality.

@TheSmuey 2 жыл бұрын
@@kaneworsnop1007 Could it be a matter of model size? I've found that, at least in 3D prints, large, solid pieces tend to warp more than smaller or hollow pieces.

Amazing work. The only choice I do not understand is the battle damage. I am of the old school, rhinox hide for corrosion/anti corrosion primer, lead beltcher or similar colour for freshly damaged steel underneath, and then maybe a thin coat of fireseeker orange over the top for active rust, like the moisture has gotten to it overnight in humid conditions, or it's been on operations for a bit and no-one has gotten to addressing the damage. The black looks great on the smaller scratches and bullet holes, don't get me wrong, but that big gouge on the side. Makes me think someone or something could be looking back out. Which, hell it is a chaos vehicle, so that brand of creepy shit is right on.

What’s the difference with forge world models? What makes them different from the normal models?
@Mechmaster0
@Mechmaster0 2 жыл бұрын
The designs were slightly different to the later GW plastic kits, in fact the 'Forgeworld' Baneblade and Shadowsword models shown in the video were actually the GW models and not the Forgeworld ones. Forgeworld models are aslo cast in resin rather than injection moulded in styrene and often quite badly moulded at that, I own a Forgeworld Mars pattern Baneblade which I bought over twenty year ago but never built due to the numerous instances of serious distortion and mould slip on the parts. For an experienced modeller willing to invest a lot of time and effort to make a model look good, Forgeworld are a good choice, for a gamer who wants something that builds up fast and looks good straight from the box then it's safer to stick to the GW plastic kits.

Now add a Land Raider as a trailer, think Snow-Cat. Plus a fusion engine conversion..... Really weird the Baneblade doesn't have that already done to it, what with those land-objective-marking fusion engines, set, that happen to be on the right scale for the Baneblade. So, figure out a Fellblade/Land-Raider setup, for fusion power. Noticed how many variants exist of that baby? Steal it's gear, like the AA turret, command upgrade, hover propulsion, ect, ect. O and check the Mechanicus models, you can get Fallout Protectrons and TOS Thunderbirds it's MOL. The Space Marines might be modded to have some Fallout, Starcraft & Iron Man mkI, armor looks, added to them. As for that flying troop-transport, Batman (Justice League) Flying Fox, paint it black, basically. Still, nicely done, good paint job. Very good paint job.
