Gaylord was more popular name between 1850 - 1950 , its Celtic origin Gaillard , got a bit twisted when made English. As family name its rare , one report said there was about 80 Gaylord families living in NY in 1830 and that 1/3 of all families known with that name in world. Must been a clerical error as with many immigrants, it's even in Godfather 2, they did wrote as family name the city they come from .

Her and the romantic interest in Anger Management are the two people who the main characters of the movie deserve to dump 100%. If you never saw Anger Management she basically has him tortured by this guy and put through hell to force him to propose, they had zero issues she just wanted him to propose and decided getting him beat up arrested and making him think she left him was the best way.

Famous British pilot called Douglas Bader in WW2 - he lost his legs after getting shot down but learnt to fly again using prosthetics. Anyway, years after the war he's invited to a girls school to address the students about his experiences “’So there were two of the f***ers behind me, three f***ers to my right, another f***er on the left,’ he told the audience. The headmistress went pale and interjected: ‘Ladies, the Fokker was a German aircraft.’ Sir Douglas replied: ‘That may be madam, but these f***ers were in Messerschmitts’.”

To answer George's question about grace, from someone who grew up in a Catholic household: there are certain traditional / historical prayers for saying grace, such as the one that starts "Bless us Oh Lord, and these thy gifts which we are about to receive" etc. etc. But you can also just say a short improv prayer like "Dear God, thank you for this food and keep those whom we love safe" or whatever.

In my mid-20's, working in constriuction and renovation, mostly in Manhattan. I met a nice girl at a party in Hoboken New Jersey..we set up a dinner date. She picked me up in her Mercedes and we drove miles down I-95 to an Italian restaraunt she'd chosen. I asked her what she 'did' and she said she was just 'helping out' with her parents' business while she decided what career she wanted. She went on to say that her uncle, her brother and her cousins also worked at the business, which was...."concrete, and waste disposal". I remarked that I didn't yet know her last name. "Bonanno" she said. I instantly made the connection between our general location, her "family business" and her last name. It was a pleasant date, she was nice and fun, but when she suggested a 2nd date, I demurred. Bonanno is the name of one of 'The Five Famiies" of New York...i.e. Mafia. I did not fancy meeting her parents.

22:20 I finally got an answer to my question (whether George was your name given at birth). I wonder what your name is and how it is pronounced. Is it difficult because we don’t use the sounds in English and/ or could you spell it in such a way that an English speaker could “sound it out”? Did you choose George or did your parents decide? Edit: for example, Xi’An is close to how you would pronounce my name in English

He said he was born in China and moved to Canada when he was in HS or something. It’s safe to assume his given name was not George lol. I chose John for that reason

Meeting the parents was interesting in my household growing up. My oldest sister was the first to invite a boy over. Our father, who was in law enforcement, answered the door when he arrived. And as he stepped into the house, my father told him, "Assume the position." Thinking he was playing along, the boy immediately faced the nearest wall and put his hands on the wall, as if he was being arrested and about to be frisked. It was at that point my father leaned in and said softly in his ear, "I can't tell you how disappointed I am that you knew what it meant to 'assume the position.' It's almost as if you had done it before." He then turned and walked over to his recliner, where he sat down and picked up his newspaper. I don't know how many minutes the boy remained in the position. But I still remember the look on his face. I also remember that none of my other sisters brought boys by the house after that.

I have been lucky in the sense that all my girlfriends since high school (4 serious ones), the parents especially the mom has been very sweet and friendly, I did how ever get the threatening talk on the first date of one, but after getting to know him I understood that was just his humor. but I didnt tempt that 🤣🤣

There was a Christian Rap band back in the 90’s named DC Talk. They had a song Day by Day. The awkward dinner prayer? Yeah, those were actually song lyrics.

Ben Stiller was great in another classic from 2007, The Heartbreak Kid. It's a Farrelly Brothers (Me, Myself and Irene, There's Something About Mary, etc.,) so you know what you're in for.

It’s such a shock to me that people actually do that. I think if any of my family had done that to my dates, I would have laughed in their face 🤣

Jesus Christ, don't clam-jam your daughters. It's rough enough being a teenager. Let 'em have some hormonal fumbling and maybe even an orgasm or two. It's actually kinda creepy how invested some dads are in keeping their daughters (always specifically daughters) pure and virginal.

1:00 I grew up in a strict religious household and my dad was insane when it came to me dating boys and interrogated my first bf so scarily then didn’t even let me go on the date which was to my job at a movie theatre. Since then I just kept everyone I’ve dated a secret from my parents #trauma 😂

I went to a Catholic school and we had to say grace at the end of the last lesson before lunch. Pretty sure it goes something along the lines of “For what we are about to receive, may the lord make us truly thankful”

I was a troublemaker when my (now) wife started dating in highschool. So, I was trying to be cool 😎 and my then gf and I went to a nature park to smoke. Cops>arrest>they let her go. So, my first meeting was them telling me that "never again" could anything like that happen. They were nice about it and it never happened again. That was almost 26 years ago and we're still going strong! We're going to visit her dad and stepmom in Nashville in a few weeks. So, it probably shouldn't have worked out but it did.
