I really couldn't agree with you more! It's unreal! So my 21-year-old son gets a job at Meijer Supermarket for $13 something an hour, sounds great right? Wrong! 8 hour shift, 30 min. break taken out. 7.5 hours pay. They scheduled him 4 days a week, which isn't even full-time. 32 hours, but actual paid hours, 30. However, I understand that it's 8 hours less of work, or 10 hours less on your actual paycheck. Then you drive 30 mins. away and back. Then that just drops him down to looking at just a bit higher than minimum wage... Not 100% sure but, I don't think he gets benefits, I will have to verify that myself though. I don't get it...🤔 🙄 💯

To add to that, many are realizing that even those pre-pandemic wages were already too low, so they refuse to work for someone who pays them poorly, and in many cases, treats them as though they're entirely disposable. Employers need only look to themselves for the reason that no one wants to work for them. AND, it's not as though cutting unemployment benefits to try to force people to accept poverty wages will help when those same people now working for too little money now need support from rental assistance or food stamps. It's just shifting which government agency is paying them... and I'd rather unemployment give employers the kick in the butt they need to wake up and pay well than continue to subsidize their greed by having their employees need welfare.
