Lift the cap on SS contributions. Rich people are exempted after a certain level. Removing that cap would improve its solvency. Most people aren’t paying a large portion on their SS and only a portion after you exceed a certain amount of additional income. The Trump policy would benefit richer people more once again

I agree. They're really backing her into a corner here--asking her to take bold stances that she surely would not have time to elaborate on in 20-30 seconds. Makes them sound like sounding boards but you really only have time for those rehearsed platitudes. I will say though, Tim Walz isn't afraid of the way he comes across when he does it, and I give him a lot of credit for that. Whitmer is a lot more cautious here; I don't know that a woman would have the same kind of lenience, especially when she has taken so much heat. She tries her best to be cordial and professional in a situation where I would surely panic.

I know it's Welker's job to question the policies of Harris to Whitmer, but I think, I presume, that both of them have college degrees. I also think they MUST HAVE HAD TO PASS A COUPLE OF CLASSES IN BASIC ECONOMICS in order to graduate. I seem to remember something called "the laws of supply and demand" are covered in basic economics classes, and along with that, "monopoly power and oligopoly power." So when Whitmer doesn't answer a very easy question about "do you think Harris' complaint about price gouging will succeed?" Also when the Wall Street Journal and the editorial board of MSNBC think that it's bad policy, I think about, "just why is it that we created the FTC in the early 20th century when railroad robber barons and other monopolists were wreaking havoc by price gouging the american public?"
