UConn is loaded… again. Abraham is going to be an absolute stud and will demand minutes this year. He’s that good.

Would love to see: Diarra + Maheney, Samson, McNeely + Karaban. Then sub 5 in: Nowell + Ball, Reed Jr, Stewart + Ross, and have Singare and Abraham situationally. Two entire teams keeping fresh off the bench but both running that relentless offense to wear down opponents.

Isaiah is a beast and more of an impact player than most realize. Liam is an obvious special player.

They had a 5-man freshman class last year, not 3. Castle, Ball, Stewart, Ross and Singare

Yeah uh Castle is a bit of a miss on that one if their argument is about the availability of freshman roles.

There's 3 types of successful recruits: Good players. Good system fits. Good players who are also good system fits. All 3 in this class are in that last category. They fit the UConn culture, they all come from winning programs (all won state/national titles in HS) and were important team-oriented players. They're all tough. But they can also all just ball. To your engagement baiting... I'll bite. No, I don't think immediate success should trump actual likely college career success in a recruiting class ranking. Like will the Rutgers kids produce more in year 1? Yes. They'll put up shots and get their numbers. Are they really weird fits with Steve Pikiell and Rutgers? Also yes. They'll be one and done and viewed as having individual success (goal of college being to get to the NBA for most players)... but will the team win? Will they be efficient and effective as the focal points of an offense in their freshman years in a season that still has COVID 5th years and when the coach teaching them college offense is Steve Pikiell? I have doubts. We know what wins in college basketball. It's good coaches with guys ranked 25-100th who stay for 2-3 years. Adama Sanogo, Jordan Hawkins, Andre Jackson, Donovan Clingan, and Alex Karaban. Baylor didn't win with Keyonte George, they won with Jared Butler and Davion Mitchell. Kansas didn't win the title with Gradey Dick, they won it with Agbaji (even a bit lower than that range), McCormack, Wilson, Braun, and Harris.. Rutgers literally has 0 guys in that 25-100 range in their class. 5*s are a nice cherry (like Liam in this case), but outside of the absolute monster elite guys, foundational recruiting has to be multi-year very good players who fit the system, and ranking recruiting classes should aim to project college success.

Ranking recruiting classes based on how much PT you think they’re going to get is silly. But whatever.
