The campaign started when I was in 6th form (age 16-18) and I remember female friends of mine saying in a lesson that they were going to get Yorkies at lunch time and me and my male friends joking that they aren't allowed etc. It was obviously just banter but it showed how effective the marketing was. I don't claim to be an expert but I do work in marketing and the campaigns that work best are the ones that have a bold message or statement, regardless of whether it has positive or negative connotations.
