Please come to Ahmedabad if you feel that paan shops have no status. Paan shops here are huge and premium which are located at some of the most premium locations. This lady has only seen street side vendors throughout her life I guess. It’s really upto the paan seller as to what kind of experience they want to give to the customers.

@@paul.-jj6yh Actually, tobacco was used by the Pre-Colombians long before the Spanish arrived in South America, but you can thank the Spanish for introducing it to Europe. Tobacco was introduced to India in the 17th Century, so we can assume that was the Europeans, and for that I apologise. Mind you, Indians have been smoking cannabis since around 2000BC, long before Europeans used it, so there is that.

@@paul.-jj6yh You're right about vaping, it is revolting, and unhealthy too, although it's marginally 'better' than smoking processed cigarettes that have a lot more chemicals and tar in them. I'm against them too, they wouldn't 'fit' with my healthy lifestyle, but people are free to make their own choices in a free society.
