@The Biddi Boy But she said she had only been doing the major building part for 5 years, meaning the majority of her collection has been built up over that time. I'd guess there's only (seems insane to say that with what follows) 5 figures (tens of thousands) of pieces of Star Wars stuff, meaning it probably makes up only 1% of that collection. I'm taken back by that, and I'm making the statement. :)

Yes you set a set price for the legos. You would have to gather the pricing on each brick to find a median price. And she probably doesn't have nearly as many rare bricks, so the price of those become inconsequential.

Bricks tend to be about 10 cents a piece (USD), however estimating how much she spent is difficult. She has a lot of star wars, which tend to be more expensive, but also gets bricks from one of the lego group things which makes it way cheaper.

Sad but true. I lost 30+ years of my collection of Lego, Star Wars, GI Joe & Transformers (well over $100k) when someone (I had my suspicions but never could prove it) wiped out my entire storage area about 10 years ago. Truly devastated me. I lost everything and was so depressed I didn't want to live anymore. I have never gotten over it fully, but am slowly building it back up (this time in a much more secure area) but I will never get close to 25% of what I once had. Breaks my heart even thinking about someone else going through this. Let's just hope it doesn't happen to anyone!
