Meet the XUAV Clouds - Model Monday #3

Hi Matt. Just an update. The Clouds i received today (16/09/21) from the BG sale has 2 updates that i can see so far, well 3. #1 is that the wing spar support for the fuselage is now glass fibre and #2 the foam spar strips are NOT glued in. Same old box but mine arrived un squashed. there was a hole that was patched but no damage whatsoever to the model. #3 There is a lot more packing foam sheeting stuff, not blocks, like a flexible sheet of foam similar to the clear stuff the model gets wrapped in but....foam in my box than ive seen on any unboxing video. every thing was taped down very well. The plastic accessories that put a dent in your fuselage is now taped down well away from the foam parts and that foeam sheet stuff i was talking about packed on top of them. It seems X-UAV have listened and packed the model more appropriately but alas, Failed to update the box.

Cheers Matt, I think they have left that hole at the back for the parachute. Some Chinese manufacturers write that down as one of the features that come with the model :)

My mate has it and has the vector mounted. I was recruited as the launcher but he has not, as yet and despite many pleas, allowed me to fly it. I've spent hours sitting watching it fly around in big circles both mk1 and through fpv whilst he worked on the trim and efficiency (he's a nit-picker) but it's been a wonderfully stable aircraft from the first flight. LoS is not really a problem :D

Hey Allan, yep much easier as the wings just go in the ikea bag and the job is done. Yea the fuse is big, but it’s not hard to carry one handed and also two handed if you stack another model on top. I like this one, that’s why it’s staying. Matt

Excellent video Matt [as usual]. I notice that whenever you test a new model you tend to use the eagle tree vector despite your extensive work with explaining and promoting INAV. I assume that's because the ETV is considered that rock solid best on the market - yes?

Dang-it Matt, I bought the full-size Skyhunter because of your video about it and have spent a month getting her ready for her maiden. Now you tell me I've gotten the ugly sister! Great video though. Could you show how you get enough channels out of the Vector to run your pan and tilt? I'm going to be shy a channel unless there's a way to use the unused dedicated rudder channel.

Howdy Mark, yea unfortunately it’s going. The vector is a waste of time for pan/tilt. You’ll need to use a SBUS to Pwm converter instead to get the other channels out. Matt

Must say, I don’t have the space at the moment, but I’m loving the look of the Clouds 2 that XUAV have been previewing, the silhouette looks beautiful. May have to borrow my mate’s 16A 4S multistar for that 😄

Matt - had a child recently ask me how to spell “pacifically”. Had to explain that’s not a word. They didn’t believe me because it’s rife on you tube, and used it in their homework.
