I worked (and lived) on Iona for several years. Managed a little tea room, worked in. a backpackers hostel and also in one of the hotels. It's a very special, magical place. Many kings and warriors were brought to the island to rest in St Oran's graveyard.(where you lit a candle). St Columba brought Christianity to the island and sent the word out to Britain.Before that it was sacred to the druids. Shame you were so wet and frozen, you did well to battle on. It's stunning on a summer's evening and the beaches are white sand. Thanks for posting this, enjoyed it so much.

Great job in that weather, big thumbs up. John Smith the politician was a great man, best PM the country never had IMO, taken too soon.

Holy Cow! You couldn't have got me out in that weather for any money! You are sure dedicated I'll give you that, but I was aching for you out there in the cold, and wanted to give you both warm blankets and huge mugs of hot cocoa. I do wish the weather had been nicer for your trip, and the island folk friendlier. Still, the sights were interesting, the graves and religious structures rather amazing really. Thanks so much for doing this, there are McLean's and McDonald's in my family line, so this to me was rather wonderful. I do hope you don't catch nasty colds from this tho, so drink lots of hot tea and keep warm. I must say Dan, you really made me laugh at your antics, "John Smith" indeed! Oh it's not really, "the", John Smith that made the beer, just some labor leader. ha ha ha That was a blow indeed after all you had endured. Darn those common names! Safe journey's you two, may you soon find yourselves in warmer and sunnier climes.

THE John Smith would be spinning in his grave if he tasted the rubbish they put his name to today. Now his brother Sam still makes exceedingly excellent beer

There are so many John Smiths, every time you say that name I get the feeling you're saying the generic placeholder name John Doe. No way to know, which John Smith was meant.

@Steven Hickman Makes me wonder if that John Smith drank John Smith's, while thinking of philosopher John Smith and his relation to Pocahontas-lover John Smith as well as what John Smith the botanist (not to be confused with John Smith the biologist) may did for his garden surroundings, in which young John Smith the athlete may have trained once back then?
@FloridaBiker-t3b5 жыл бұрын
We get John Smith's here in Florida , I've had it just OK 🌝
