⁠​⁠​⁠​⁠@@SJC49- rescue isn’t for everyone. When you rescue you quite often don’t know all the breeds in that one dog and this family has other animals they need to be concerned about. As well as a couple of small children. I m sure they did their due diligence in thinking about where their next dog was coming from and what breed best suits their needs. Everyone has heard of rescue organizations. But rescues aren’t always the answer. I m 68 yrs old. In my whole life I ve had 8 dogs. 6 rescues. The other two came through people we knew whose dogs had litters. I’ve had 7 cats. All rescues - 3 from the wild. Feral cats I took on. One had 5 kittens soon after. I have one of my feral cats still. She’s 11. And you’d better not touch her unless she comes up to you first because she will scratch you or bite at you. One feral cat I ended up having to take to Humane Society. She would attack randomly. Leaving scratches behind. One of my dogs same thing. Except she would randomly attack the other dog (not people) in my house. I took that dog to every kind of training, socialization, walked her 3-4 miles per day most days of the week etc to no avail. I had to keep her separated from my other dog. After trying for 2 years I had to make a choice. It wasn’t the life I wanted. My other dog didn’t deserve it. I just have one dog now. A 7 yr old dog my son rescued as a 6 week old pit mix that, according to the vet, says she would ve died within 24 hours if he hadn’t taken her from the people who had her and were abusing her. He offered them $20 and they took it. Just recently lost my boy I got from a NC dog rescue center. My dog here misses him and I m starting to think of another. At my age though I think I want a dog where I can be pretty confident of its traits, characteristics etc. So I am thinking of a breeder. And by the way, I adopted 2 gerbils from a rescue and a cockatiel over the years. Captured and took a total of about 6 ferals so far to organizations that help with that kind of situation. Presently helping my 87 year old mother with a litter of kittens that came from a feral very young cat she started feeding and then she had kittens on my mother’s porch. Again, rescues aren’t for everyone. I ve had my share but think this next dog I ll be getting may not be. When I decide on a breed I ll probably look into that specific breed rescue and see. Otherwise it ll be a responsible breeder.

I’m saddened that you didn’t adopt a shelter dog as so many are homeless. However, I can understand wanting to have a guarantee of a gentle family dog/pet. No previous abuse or neglect that can affect a dog’s personality. Can never be too careful with children. Luso is beautiful and looks like a great fit for you Souzas! How bittersweet, but ultimately special that Ludo (best name!!) was born on the same day that Kenji left. Our nephew was born the day our son died. We had a German Shepherd/Husky mix who knew the difference between cows & horses! We'd go past both in the car. Say, "Big Dogs, 'Bo (Lobo)! Cows...nothing -- Horses...all heck broke lose! Good times! She gave us 7 glorious pups (neutered asap) in her 15 years. Was a big factor in my recovery from a bum pancreas. ❤😂 Love the name of the little guy! Hope you have lots of fun with him. God bless! 😊

I'm so glad you didn't let the loss and pain of the loss of Kenji prevent you from getting another dog. That spot in your heart that's dog shaped needs to be filled. I believe it's just me that dogs need other dogs around. Dogs are pack animals and as humans we fill that spot as well as we can. But seeing a pack of well trained dogs doing dog stuff. Is so heart warming. We have 3. A 5 pound Yorkie, a 25 pound Australian Shepard mix and a 90 pound adopted mix breed hound dog from a local shelter. They all love each other and get along extremely well. If you have the time. The money and the ability to love more dogs, get them. They bring such joy.

This breed is beautiful, loves to play, super calm with people, they love play, but be prepared for 1 or 2 years of destruction, they love to destroy, slippers, remote controls, glasses and anything you leave lying around the house, they also love Playing in water and mud so be prepared for that because as they have long fur you can imagine how things will turn out.

As I was watching your show, I heard the noise out in the living room. "Hello, is anybody there," and didn't get any answers? And I thought, " hm, this is not good," so I went out and checked and out goes the dogs. My dog Salem, is chasing my daughter's one- year-old puppy, Sterling. And I thought, "Okay, this is not right." Usually, it's the other way around chasing each other. So I turned around and looked, and sure enough, there it is--a 12" to 18" log! Oh, smoke is coming out of my ears. That furniture had just been vacuumed off. 😂❤

We lost our girl on April 13th. She was a 15 year old American Golden, and my God she is missed. We knew a breeder that had English Goldens (White) and we reached out. Long story short, we received our new baby, Rachel, on Saturday. Finally that hole my family had is filled again. I'm so happy for you guys. We've had goldens for 20 years and I'll never go elsewhere. The breed is intelligent but goofy, gentle, and super affectionate. Again, so happy for you guys. Enjoy the life out of that little guy! Aw, congrats on your new fur baby Ludo! This video was a perfect introduction from start to finish. You have perfect story telling & editing skills. I love how you showed the introduction to all of your other animals, & finally taking Ludo to the garden to Kenji's final resting place--very moving! ❤ I'll be looking forward to watching all the new memories in the making of this adorable little fur baby. It’s so happy for you! I think it’s the perfect dog in your family, and he loves the kids from the first start. Sometimes it’s meant to be. When I lost Demi, my 12 year old setter girl June 26th last year, her brother Gibson was devastated. He hated to be only dog. Same day she died, I saw a friend to a friend wrote that he got three girls and one boy, Irish setter puppies. I wrote to him immediately and told my story and that I wanted a boy after losing my two girls to pyomethria. And I m was chosen to be Kevin’s Hooman ❤! Gibson loved him at first sight and never tells him no, EVER (food, bones, treats, everything can Kevin take from him). It was meant to be, just like it was for you. ❤

That pup is very lucky and so are you all to be blessed again. I love my dogs. Have 4 now. We've buried 4 on our property. All was with us 13 yrs plus except one. She was older when we got her but still had her 4 yrs. I have a 15 yr old toy poodle who we've had since she was 4 months old. I think these wiĺ def be our last. One is 15,one 2 one 4,and then a 6 yr old. We are now In our early 60s so yeah. When my poodle (Layla) passes I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it. But I've loved them all. They mean everything to me. Goodluck with your fur baby.
