I like to use my 30 minute break to shower, so I can shower every day. Mid-day there’s usually no wait for showers, and plenty of parking spots. I can usually get in/out in 30-45 minutes. Then I don’t have to worry about finding truckstop parking to sleep. I can sleep enroute or at customers.

Support. I had a trainee that was good and dandy for the first 2 weeks then the 3rd week he was arguing with the wife and they started being harsh with each other everyday. At the end of week 4 he had to throw in the towel and quit. He found an elevator job close to home and is home every day and they are much happier. Being an OTR trucker is hard in every way. I try and make sure they still wanna do the job at the end of everyday. Always letting them know "if it's not for you let me know, now. Nothing will change between us, I'll still get you showers and we will work out a way and time to get you home" good video as always. "OHH YA, WHATS GOIN ON" 🤪

I keep a 5 gallon camping style water jug under the bunk on the driver side. Has a spigot. Works well for wasting up on the fly. Especially after sweating through a dusty pickup or drop.

My hat is off to you guys for training. So many come out of truck driving school thinking they already know everything. They don’t realize that the truck driving school teaches the bare minimum to pass a cdl test. True learning comes in the trainer’s truck. Instead of thinking they need to correct the trainer, trainees need to focus on learning from the trainer. I couldn’t imagine after being on the road 22 years, that someone with zero experience was going to not trust that what I’d be trying to teach them, is from having experience and already knowing what they are about to get into. Had a guy at my company try to tell me I’d be a valuable trainer with my experience. I seriously don’t think I have the nerves to put up with a student in my truck, that think they already know it all. I’d end up putting them out of my truck. Lol. Hat’s off to you guys.

Great video. Im SERIOUSLY wanting to come on board with TMC in the spring. Had my dot physical today and am going to get my permit as soon as possible. I hear/read people saying that at orientation the washout rate is extremely high from the company giving them the axe. Admittedly, im a bit gunshy to leave my job I have now as shitty as it is only to be sent home and be unemployed. Im a retired NYC fireman and veteran so risk vs reward has been hammered into my cranium at extreme levels.

@truckeraxelmunoz4939 thanks Axel for the comment. After speaking to Lori the other day on the phone she relaxed me a good bit by explaining who winds up going home usually. Anything I do I give everything I can. I listen, I'm on time for work, I take it all in, I learn as much as I possibly can, I don't drink so I won't be showing up to class not all there, I don't do drugs and don't think this will just be a cakewalk with a job handed to me. Those were the reasons she gave for most of the washout so thankfully I think I'm good.

This what's the best content I found yet regarding working at TMC I'm highly considering it right now I'm a Marine corps infantry veteran and I've done work in stone, Mable, etc construction in NYC. I actually just worked for a marble company in Kentucky and I would intake the slabs off of a flatbed truck so this would be like right up my alley.

GREAT vid guys, everyone thinking about driving should watch this. As its very insightful. sounds like you guys really care about training your trainies as well. the trainer I had when i got out of school (different company) was terrible. When doing back ups he would just say well what did they teach you in school or just figure it out. Now I am back to mowing grass. in the fall I am going to give it a 2nd go round and hopefully this time with another company I'll have someone that wants to actually teach me how to do the job.

Had a trainee get to complacent a month in his truck, a trailer dropped to high, didn't get out to check king pin for damage or cracks and slammed the front of the trailer into the headache rack.

Not the work side or getting along type stuff but sleeping !! Lol .... heck I don’t sleep well in my bed !! Would a trainer be open to a motel if I paid for it maybe once or twice in the week if it didn’t effect park up or delivery?

@@scottvaldez8582 there’s a lot of trainers out of the Texas area. It just al depends on availability and your smoking preferences. You could get a guy from Texas or a guy from Florida like myself. I train guys from all over. I don’t mind training guys not from my state. You also could have the opportunity to request someone as well if you know someone who trains for us.

Hey man, I completed the TMC orientation 2 weeks ago. However, they keep telling me they don't have a trainer available for me. I have even opted to pay my own transportation and lodging IF I were to go anywhere in the USA to train. Still, they have "NOT Found" a trainer for me. I find that highly suspect. I have checked in every day at around 7AM but I still just get the same ole answer everyday. What should I do?

No, don't do whatever your trainer tells you. Mine had no business training. Dude was unsafe as fuck. When you're driving you are responsible for that truck and if you do something stupid that your trainer tells you to do then it's on you. Mine uses the phone while he drives. He teaches a concept called "Blind Faith" which is basically if you need to backup or change lanes and can't see then you need to have blind faith and do it anyway while hoping you don't hit something. He drove down the freeway with four unsecured pipe stakes just sitting in the rub rails. He knew that they could come out but drove with them unsecured anyway. I asked for a new trainer and when they offered me someone who was five hundred miles from my home I just paid them the four grand. If your trainer tells you to do something unsafe tell him to screw because if something goes wrong it's on you.
