A business (including TMC) exists to make money for the owners or share holders, when they say “they care about your family “ that’s marketing to get your butt in that seat, if you believe them you’re gullible, news flash your next company also doesn’t care about your family.

TMC is owned and operated by drivers. At the end of the year you also get a profit share stipend.

Understand the frustration, brother! I was with them for a few months back in 2011. Found that those on mileage were getting shorter runs. Those on percentage were getting cheaper runs. Way too frustrating. I ended up with a sinus infection that didn't go away. Consignee called TMC and reported I was delivering their load with blood pouring out of my face. TMC sent me home to go to a dr, but told me to clean out my truck before I left. (Dropped in Des Moines, got a ride to home in Madison, WI). Turned out I had a ruptured sinus. Dr hadn't cleared me to work after 2 weeks, and TMC said it was over. Probably a blessing.

Brother, I am sympathetic to your position, I know what it's like to be completely broke. With that being said, you made a commitment, and you walked away from it. You're now going to take that CDL, you didn't finish paying for, and go work for another company. Be honest with yourself, own what you did, and say "I left because I wasn't making enough money." But it is not right to say "TMC did this to me." You created this situation. These are the repercussions of your decisions. I'm praying for you

I learned flatbed at system transport and did the long haul fleet, I would usually do 2 loads a week and run around 2800-3300 miles per week. For solo @ .57 per mile w the stop and tarp pay I would make around 1600-1800 gross per week ( take home 1300-1500ish) and it was pretty consistent. The only thing I didn’t like about it was that they pay you zip code miles from city to city not the actual address so it would shave off a little bit from each trip. I was a runner though and would stay out 5 weeks at a time to max out my 5 day home time(1 day per week). It had its days but overall I enjoyed it. Went all the way out to maine one time and back hauled a load of lumber from New Hampshire which was pretty cool. I even went into the Bronx one time which was hectic but it tested my driving skill. You can make .62 cents per mile after your first year there and gross around 80-90k. Obviously there are better opportunities out there but for a rookie Cdl driver it’s not bad. After 6months I was able to land a smaller company job that had 18speed custom 389 Pete’s as the trucks so to me it was worth it.

If you need to “take care of your family” as you say, don’t quite a job EARLIER than you contractually agreed too. Everyone that does a CDL program has it explained to them before hand that you’ll be paying out of pocket for that training if you don’t fulfill your agreement. It’s part of the contract. They have every right to withhold a paycheck to pay off their investment into your CDL. This isn’t on TMC, it’s on you for quitting early. You are going to probably delete this, but I'm going to comment anyway having 22+ years in the trucking industry. This will be mainly for other viewers to give another point of view. WOW... a rookie driver, with a little over 2 months solo in a truck, seems to have the whole trucking industry figured out! Congratulations!!! Here are some things to take into consideration for the others that are reading this: Time of the year... he got into the truck in December. The winter months in flatbedding is slow. With fewer flatbed loads available, competition gets stiff and shipping rates get cheaper. Flatbed freight really starts to pick up in the Spring (right now) so it looks like he gave up way too early. If money was actually the real issue. I'm sure any flatbed trucking company will tell him that. Christmas time...a lot of shippers shutdown until after the first of the year. If he had loads to pick and deliver during that time and NOT layover somewhere waiting for one, that is a blessing. I know a lot of drivers will take vacation during that same time because the limited freight. Home time...sounds like he got home every weekend that he wanted to so. It only makes sense that a trucking company would have to keep him fairly close to home in order to that and could limit the choice on freight for him AND the company. I know of other trucking companies it will be a month or 2 before they get home. Ask yourself...does a OTR trucking make more money with getting a driver home every weekend or getting a driver home 6 to 12 times a year? Yup, the 6 to 12 times a year. So what would make you happy? Anyway I could on and on about this fella. If someone is interested about getting into Over-the-road (OTR) truck driving, be honest with yourself and have realistic expectations. If want to be home every weekend, an OTR driver could expect to leave the house on Sunday and back Friday. You want to be home everyday, take a local job then. The most successful OTR drivers out there, are the ones that ACTUALLY want to be truck drivers and understand what is going, being flexible, being level headed, problem solving so on and so on. The ones that are OTR drivers doing this just for a job, don't seem to last very long because of minor problems and inconveniences. To those panty waste Radio Rambos or YT complainers...F*ck off.

@MAJorgy70 3 жыл бұрын
Well, Good Buddy, that is funny! It is plain as day. I am not quite at Super Trucker status yet, but I think you will get there before me though. I can see this happening. Why would any trucking company want screw over any driver that is being safe, drug free, productive, following company policies and respectful? Why would they do that? It is because they don't. Your "Rookieness" really shows thru. Surprised you didn't call me a racist as well. LOL! 🤣 Anyway, maybe you should work for the MSM, you are telling a story (after all it's your channel) and how you want to tell it without all the information and just to get some sympathy. It is pathetic. Just be honest. If it because you didn't want to be away from the family, then say so. And just an FYI, trash talking an employer (current or former) for doing something that you agreed to, is not a wise idea. No one put a gun to your head and made you sign that agreement to get your CDL. That is just some free advice from a not quite Super Trucker, yet.

I've been driving at TMC for almost 16 months and after maintaining 32% it just don't pay enough for me. First off why can't drivers see the rate sheets? Is it a terrible thing that we know what TMC gets paid for fuel, tarp, etc? Or are they lying to their drivers? I drove hotshot before I started with TMC and I don't remember ever seeing a load pay less than $1,000. I was also emailed the rate sheets for each load I hauled so I knew exactly what my percentage should be. None of the "trust us this is what the number is" BS. If you wanna haul for TMC to get some experience that's okay but just know what to expect. Your going to haul cheap ass freight a lot of $700-800 loads.

Im almost done with my month as a company driver and I can honestly say I've gotten paid more here than at TMC. I average $1,200 a week take home at 27% and every load I've seen has been over $1,000. They've offered me $5,000 - $6,000 loads to California multiple times but i turned them down (I'm not trying to do anyone favors at 27%). Next month when I switch over to lease I'll be getting paid 70% using their trailers and bringing home $2,000 or more every week at a MINIMUM.

@@Sxrew They've got the loads for sure. But that's all they got. Trucks suck. ELD system sucks (samsara). Terminals suck. Here's how they make their money... They depend on a revolving door of new drivers coming in to drive at the low percentage rate for three months before they will offer you a lease truck. You're percentage rate goes up significantly when you get your lease truck so they benefit from keeping new drivers in the company truck as long as you will let them (3 months). Tell them you're not coming to orientation unless you get straight to a lease truck (especially if you have over a year experience flatbed). When I got to orientation there were guys there that had less experience than I did that told their recruiter the only way they would come is if they went straight to a lease and they put them in their truck after orientation. That really rubbed me the wrong way because I felt like I had already put my time in at TMC. After a month I told them I wasn't taking another load of they didn't have a truck for me to lease. I guess they thought I was joking. Now I'm rebuilding diesel engines at a place near my house for $22 hour and have great benefits. I wouldn't go back to driving unless I owned my own truck and numbers.

Lonnie, another thing you mentioned that 600-700 a week isn’t enough for you and your family of 6. That is t enough for a person who is single and no kids. TMC says you can make 1000 or more in a week that’s why people co e there so when you said 600-700 is maybe okay for a person who is single and no kids.... actually it isn’t at all. People don’t want to get into trucking to make 600-700 a week and that includes single people with no kids or family.

Here's the deal. You came to the company as green as possible, they offered you a opportunity and you signed up for training and your CDL. You agreed to work it off, it's never gonna be perfect, and you aren't always gonna make what your worth, in your eye's. This is a business that takes time, but in your case, you didn't have the time and experience to really become something, I have no idea what you were promised, but you obviously had no cushion financially to jump into the job. Bottom line you make a agreement, you have to pay the cost, you couldn't even get that other job, if it wasn't for TMC. I in no way am a employee, nor do I have anything to do with TMC. I've been on the road 41 years, the last 30 local work, but I know what it takes to make a living in the business, and you have to count the costs. This is clearly your fault for not counting the cost, and for acting as though, for a green guy, everything should have been going your way. Good luck with that attitude bro. Years ago, I moved machinery coast to coast, and nobody ever said anything great about that company, other than the equipment was good, so that was more than 20 years ago, and most everyone knows that company is primarily, just a stepping stone to something better.
