Since the 2000s, Gordon Chang has consistently published books and articles predicting the imminent collapse of China. They are basically in a depression because of their beyond retarded covid measures. That's nothing new. Will they collapse from this? Nah, of course not but it caused several bubbles to burst, most notable the housing bubble. I'm cautious on what this means for the global economy. Think about what the US real estate collapse caused in 2007 around the globe. It's naive to assume that China won't cause waves around the globe either and you can see it in Germany. The only country that exports more to China, than it imports from it has been Germany and their economy is imploding right now too. The chain effects will get bigger and bigger until we eventually hit a new global financial crisis. I'm bearish at the moment. I've said so for a while, I'm bullish until Sep. first, then I'll gl into my bearish positions more and more depending on further data we get.

I literally just came back from China and I really dont think their economy is anywhere near as bad as the msm says it is. Some sectors are still struggling but a lot of empty stores/shops have been taken up recently by bigger companies and most are either renovating or have a coming soon poster. The taxi/didi drivers have said this was one of their best summer since covid, I also noticed restaurants and malls are getting busy as well. There are loads of people out. Their economy is definitely not as bad as ours. Just look at how many people pre-order the new huawei $2000 phone.

China is just experiencing the double impact of the counter-cyclical dollar and the bursting of the real estate bubble, but it is still very far from "collapse". The difficulties China is experiencing now are even less than in 1989. China has accumulated strong economic growth momentum at the bottom of the cycle: the Australian Strategic Policy Institute (ASPI) released a report on August 28, which investigated and analyzed the "top 10% of academic papers in terms of citations" among the papers published between 2003 and 2023. After analyzing advanced technologies in 64 key areas including defense, space, energy, environment, artificial intelligence, biotechnology and robotics, it was found that China is in a leading position in the world in 57 of these technologies, accounting for nearly 90%.

Travelled most of it doing trade fairs for export and also china wholesale and retail. Educated in Australia. Speak Mando Canto and English. Printing money fixes deflationary problems. They are just not printing enough. You can print money to your hearts content, but you cannot print goods and services. An interesting economic detail related to this video: Hainan province was recently devastated by the strongest hurricane in modern Chinese history, with estimated damages currently around 100 billion RMB. In 2023, Hainan's government reportedly falsified their tax figures, claiming a surplus of 270 billion RMB in revenue to the CCP to show the economy is recovering from covid to help masking the declining of the consumer confidence. As a result, the CCP allocated only 100 million RMB in disaster relief. However, the provincial revenue agency’s website now shows that the actual tax revenue for 2023 is only around 90 billion RMB, far below the100B they initially reported. Now, with over 100 billion RMB in damages, only 100 million in aid, and just 90 billion in revenue-barely enough to cover daily government expenses, Hainan's government is facing real financial crisis

I agree with basically everything you said, but I think you're missing the biggest part of China's economic issue: They aren't actually a country run through manufacturing (although they are #1 in the world), the vast majority of their country is run through real estate. Real estate drives construction, construction dries the restaurant industry, hotel industry, and other supporting industries. What happened is that China started allowing land leases in 2003, which were 30-year leases. Everybody started buying up the the land leases because they knew that the real estate would only appreciate. This allowed real estate companies to take advantage of buyers, so for example, a buyer of a house will pay a mortgage while owning nothing until the house is 100% paid off, then the construction company starts building their house. In the meantime, they are using the money to build other people's houses. So what happens when the people paying their mortgages stop paying? In the USA, the bank would take the house back and sell it, but in China there is nothing to take back. And then that means the construction company is out that money and unable to construct the homes of the people who did already pay. And so now China has hit a tipping point. They enacted their 3 red line policy making everything worse, especially in the short-term. Is it any surprise these million restaurants are going out of business when you don't have as many construction workers going to them to eat? And now China is going to have a mess to navigate when these 30-year leases come to term starting in 2033. There are some experts that believe China's economy is already 60% smaller than they report (basically mayors lying to the party about hitting the economic growth goals on masse): www.moneymacro.rocks/2022-10-27-china-smaller/ My view is that Russia is going to balkanize because of the Ukraine War, China is on pace to economically collapse, Iran, North Korea, Cuba, Venezuela, and other have already collapsed, countries like India are leaving Russia for the West, Turkey, Sweden, Finland, and Hungary moved towards the West being in NATO and/or the EU, so who will be left to oppose the West? We're about to have one global Western alliance take over. The USA better be careful that the EU doesn't try to pull a power grab on us where we end up being the USA vs the EU. The EU is already the #2 world currency, so they are a threat economically and could be militarily as well. But in the end, I think we actually will have a lot of peace, because I think the USA and EU will continue to get along for quite some time.

In the meantime many of their major tech stocks are amazing values and many have operations outside of China to cushion things too. Its US stocks you should be worried about, they are insanely overvalued and no where near pricing in a recession.
