Everybody alludes to her having some kind of special indescribable quality that sets her apart from the herd. Passion. Sincerity. I think the deeply personal lyrics are the result of giving too big of a piece of her soul to whoever she made the mistake of ever trusting. This is the hurt, pain, anger, shame, and frustration of.. betrayal. She captures the intimacy of emotion so very well that we can all feel it. That is a gift.

Me too! Wow! (And I'm 60.) Finally explored via KZbin after spending the last five years almost entirely listening to old playlists of purchased music. Found a whole bunch of talent that's new to me...awesome! But she's the only one where I've liked literally EVERY song I've heard by her (at least 10 so far). Also discovered (to just mention and recommend the artists and my favorite song of theirs so far) London Grammar (Non Believers), Manchester Orchestra (The Alien), Highly Suspect (My Name Is Human), Soen (Lotus), AWOLNATION (Sail), Fever Ray (Keep the Streets Empty For Me), Still Corners (Black Lagoon), Heilung (Krisgaldr) and many others! Music is NOT dead...but most of the best stuff is not the most popular. Anyway, I'm in hog-heaven right now thanks to KZbin's algorithms and these wonderful musicians!

Three years after this post and the same has happened to me. I randomly watched her BTS video because I thought "why is there a pretty woman wearing weird makeup in front of a green screen for a music video?" I recognized "Running Up That Hill" from back in the 80s and thought that Meg has a great voice. I listened to a few of her other songs and realized that I've heard a few of them already on the rare occasions I listen to the radio but didn't realize all those songs were the same artist (the radio doesn't have DJs anymore so songs are rarely announced). After listening to a few songs I was hooked and I don't really even like pop-rock-alternative as a genre(s) very much. Basically, almost all the music on the radio produced in the last ten years that I like is from Meg but I didn't know it. I suspect anything that Meg created in any genre or medium would be good.

@@SavageMusicClique for me when i hear 'momma can i sleep forever' can i never wake up once i fall asleep meaning die or please wake me when im in heaven...my mom passed some long time ago and sometimes i wish she could take me away with her and be free. And 'daddy can you change the weather' for me i have my dad but its like im invisible and ever since my mom passed its been nothing but grey clouds inside our once bright home. So im praying he will become the same dad i once knew growing up. Happy and lively. Hence daddy can you change the weather. Its been gloomy for far too long. Anyways that's what it means to me.

@@SavageMusicClique Yes! We all know what it's like to be a child, only knowing what we live, totally vulnerable and in need of protection. So limited in our knowledge and comprehension of the world and ourselves. And yet, childhood is undeniably wondrous, magical, and freeing. She's been in a place like this. So small and innocent, expecting Mommy and Daddy to make the impossible real AND give her permission to do the things (like sleep forever) which seem to bring comfort, if you frame them through the eyes of one who is so broken that they regress to being an unknowing, TRUSTING, yet hopeful, tiny human.

I recently discovered Meg and she’s absolutely stunning. All her songs are great but lyrically Feather has got to be her best song.
@CristinaMunoz8 жыл бұрын
'Feather' is a song I personally relate to so it was difficult to hear the first few times but so worth it. Today it struck me how the music itself seems to take flight in 'Feather' I can literally hear and see injured angelic wings flapping in perfect time, rising higher and higher back to heaven. Considering the song is about a young girl who wants to escape an abusive home, how Meg Myers was able to create a poetic song so terrible, yet sound so divinely beautiful all at the same time, without losing any of the stories power is frankly magical. The fact she was able to add the sense and feel of wings in flight as well leaves me mute with respect. 'Feather' is multi-dimensionally brilliant.

AWESOME SONG! It touched me like none other before! This cut, cuts deep! I saw the unofficial video about the little girl who was physically abused by her piece a s**t old man. I wept! Then, in the video of Feather, the little girl was placed in foster care over and over again, and separated from her baby brother! As a real 3-time high maximum, low maximum double-tuff, ex-con, who @ 6'4", 315 rock solid lbs., whose truly changed his life, with a beautiful wife, and God in my heart, thus, never going back in, so to speak-----I watched nasty, greazy, pedophiles and cho'mo's plus child abusers, try to come on our REAL PENITENTIARY, GUN TOWER, 40' WALLS, AND RAZOR WIRE YARD'S AND COMPOUND'S (IN THE FEDS), and thought they were gonna fool all these tatted up convicts, with their fake paper work, ONLY to eventually get found out, and smashed with locks, and stuck over and over again, before they could make it to PC (Protective Custody), or the LT.'s Office. They never made it, and got what they earned! A trip out of the joint in a bag! And, we all said the same thing ... good riddance punk!
