Fun fact: The music for the CD versions of Mickey Mania was done by Michael Giacchino, who would go on to compose the first PlayStation orchestral score (The Lost World), and become known for Medal of Honor, Alias, LOST, The Incredibles, the Star Trek reboot, and of course, winning an Oscar for Disney's Up =)

Absolutely the best mickey mania version ever. Better than the ps fake version as well! A MUST play for anyone who appreciate anime and side scroll. Perfect presentation, soundtrack, sounds, true anime of the original mickey series. What can i say more. VERY hard but worth the struggle.

Yeah, this game is hard as balls for sure, but to me, the PS1 version is the best. It has improved graphics, ACTUAL 3d, and the voice overs are higher quality, too.

This game is absolutely brutally difficult. I mean, I beat hard games (Ninja Gaiden, Battletoads, Ghosts and Goblins, etc... etc...) and this is right up there with the toughest.

There is loading times in this, but it makes sense because it's a cd game, and the SNES load times are longer.

Wow the graphics for this are so much crisper than the Mega Drive's! I wish they included some animation cut scenes too (like they did with the Mega-CD version of Spider Man and Sonic CD)

Besides the CD music, more lines from Mickey, and an exclusive level, I was disappointed with this version, it's the same as the Genesis version, no graphical enhancements or anything that improves this otherwise fantastic Mickey Mouse game.

It still boggles my mind that considering it was a proper and expensive CD add-on for the Genesis, they never managed to finally add more colours and proper transparency. I mean, some of the games are great and all, but this is just an annoying limitation imo.

I agree, they should have taken that opportunity to fill the gap with the SNES about the colour palette. But it sure had to do with hardware limitation, the graphics still being displayed by the Mega Drive.

I just wish they didn't go so heavy on the FMV games and just continued going the route of just beefing up 16 bit games with awesome redbook audio, cut scenes and whatever else they did to games like Terminator, Sonic CD, Eternal Champions etc on the graphical side. Would have been completely fine with that

I just realized, this game, specifically the Steamboat Willie stage, looks bizarrely identical to the Pinocchio game. Mickey Mouse even has an idle pose nearly identical to Pinocchio's idle stance.

I had the Playstation version of this game. I remember the Mad Doctor Stage elevator part. Hoo boy that was hard as hell, because the bones didn't go through the elevator floor!!!

Ah I love this game, downloaded it on my PS3 so I could play it on my PSP aswell, seems like the PSN version (which is essentially an emulation of the PSX version) is the way to go for visuals and content, although it goes by the name 'Micky's Wild Adventure' over here. I played this on my Mega Drive way back but never got the Mega CD version. I also remember World of Illusion and especially Castle of illusion, those games were just as great as Micky Mania/Micky's Wild Adventure.

hard as a kid, but came easy next when I was like 10, the Mad Doctor Mickey is just stay on the elevator more til you reach the far top of the floor (I only played the SNES one)

Skillfully done...thanks for posting....a little disappointed with the ending...thought they would've done better...never was able to beat the game on the original & best background sound effects in my opinion on Sega CD version...back in the day kept dying @ 29:11 & by that time, used up all my continues & that was on normal!...this game & Sonic CD are the 2 first CD games I purchased back then...

@@adamfletcher-dn4jm In retrospect I'm not sure if it was the game or my system, but if I wiggled the cart around a bit as I turned it on, the lives would sometimes glitch out. Could tell when it worked because other text would appear kinda jumbled up and choppy

Sega-CD had both extremes. Cheesy FMV games that wanted to "take advantage of the medium" by having shitty acting and no gameplay, to good games that wanted to take advantage of the medium with having better graphics and sound, and bigger levels. Just because you could put movies, it didn't mean you should :P

Yes and no. Many of the non-FMV games were ports of the regular Mega Drive versions with just a CD soundtrack and sometimes an extra level. This was the case for Earthworm Jim, and it's the same for this Mickey Mania. Not something to make you buy an expensive add-on (I didn't).
