MEGA CHARGER! Portable 4-port RC Charger - NHX EZPro Quad Review

This charger rocks! The NHX RC EZPRO Quad can charge FOUR RC batteries at once (100W per port), has a really intuitive programming interface, is easily portable, is compatible with most RC hobby battery types and even comes with adapters for the many common connectors out there (except traxxas) . What's not to like? I've been testing this out for the past month and a half and even took it to a 3-day RC event. After all the use, I have nothing but good things to say about it.

considering i spent $120 dollars roughly on two budget chargers that can only do 1 at a time i think this is priced pretty well. i race an 8s kraton and an 6s talion, and being able to put all 4 batteries on the charger at once is pretty awesome

That’s a super good idea for the balance port extension. I’d recommend the combo ones that have the actual power plug too. The less you can use the ports on the actual charger the longer the charger will work. Let the extension banks headers get the abuse.

That is so awesome ! Much better than sharing the crowded DC Grid at the club ! Maybe someday they will make it a Rechargeable Power Supply that can hold a long term charge that can re-charge r/c batteries in the field without the AC Power plug.

100W per port isn't quite enough watts to charge 6S batteries over 4000mAh capacity at the 1C rate. If you fly EDF's, you need 150 watts per port to get 6 amps at 25.2 volts (150 watts / 25.2 volts = 5.95 amps). It's nice that it comes with all those adapters, but the balance boards should come with it for that price. The internal resistance of the cells is important. The higher it is, the hotter the batteries will get under load and less voltage will be delivered to your vehicle. Keep track of the cell resistance and dispose of batteries when the resistance gets too high and they start to puff.

They could liminate the dangling issue by putting the charge & balance ports horizontally at/near the bottom of the charger sides. Seems like a no-brainer.

Revolectrix also makes a great product and they come with a data tags you can stick on your batteries so once programmed you never have to load whether it's a lipo or not, or the milliamp hour rating for the C rating it's all done with the bump tag on the battery to the charger. Pretty awesome actually

Very nice review. I have 2 very important questions. Does this particular charger charge more than 7.0A? And does it discharge more than 1.0A? This is the case with my Venom Pro Quad charger.

It does 100W per port. So if you're charging a 7.4v it will go up to 10A charge. If on a 3 cell, it would go up to around 8A. Wattage is Amps x voltage so it's up to you to do the math. It only discharges at 1A

@@rt66rc86 Yes, discharging too fast can cause the lipo to heat up and ignite. However, the 1A discharge rate on most chargers is far too slow IMO. I can discharge a 2200 4s in 5 minutes in an airplane and they don't explode.

thanks informative. i store my 2s, 3s and 4s lipos inside a metal ammo box (with the rubber seal removed from the lid) in my appartments bicycle storage. and no stuff like gasoline, oil or w/e laying arround it. you think thats the good way to go? when i take them with me on a trip i use a fire retardant lipo bag

3:27 and 3:34 you talk about xt90 as being for "huge, huge batteries" but mention nothing of the sort when talking about the ic5. ic5 is capable of much more power than an xt90. if any plug there is "for your huge huge batteries" its the ic5.

There have been reports of Asian knock offs of multiple chargers catching fire ---thereafter, the rest isn't just history---but a damaged charger, a destroyed work area---the user feeling secure had been away from work area after plugging ---then there was a loss of confidence by the user, followed by angry calls to retailer, or manufacturer for money back---considering guarantees given to induce purchase ---but which nearly never occurs in most cases since--- device(s) is/are damaged under unknown circumstances. One however provided video evidence of the unboxing, the plugging into an outlet, and the whooshing of device into flames four minutes later before recovery of the exact amount spent. Still the purchaser lost money from shipping damaged device back ---dealer refused to refund return shipping...

i have a$150 2 channel charger that does 200watts/channel on AC power, so essentially the same power. its less than 1/3 the size. it also has 3 times the balancing current and 2 2.1 amp usb-a ports and a 45 watt usb-c port allong with a DC power out (power supply). this charger thats humongous and costs $80 more is some bull shit. if you think this "has a really intuitive programing interface" you need to check out a charger with a modern interface and not one thats 15+ years old.
