Underappreciated classic. One of the best side-scrollers from the 16-bit era, and Shinobi friggin 3 and even better! (In some respects). Damn, Sega was on fire here. The military base is one of the best designed levels in a 2D game that I've seen, double jumping over the fence again and again with the kunai attack is a blast.

@@retrolinkx yeah it's a really tough game for new players. You'll get better at it though, takes practice. I took me a few playthroughs to really enjoy/appreciate the games design, the final maze level they took things too far though, you basically need a guide until you memorize it. Imo the only real flaw of the game (and yeah maybe also that 7-1 jump lol) but it really is overall a classic sidescroller despite its imperfections.

@Celestial078 жыл бұрын
+Munk-a-Dunk Hey, that jump is a bit tricky. In most cases, I do it from my first try and without using the High Jump. It was only when I first discovered this game that I had trouble on some of the stages, but other than that, I can't say RoS is a very hard game. It's hard, but it ain't that hard. Ninja Gaiden is more unfair, but in reality, RoS is a bit tougher (although not as Ninja Gaiden II: The Dark Sword of Chaos).

Something about these first party launch titles always stood out for me, as many of them (Revenge of Shinobi in particular) seemed to be superior to many other titles for years to come. The music and sound effects in this game are very clear, and avoid the "twanginess" that Genesis music came to be known for. Even the graphics are excellent for a 16-bit title, with what at the time appeared to be an almost "realistic" quality to them.
