I think it's because they are partially based on Romeo and Juliet and in most cultures while female parts were played by both sexes (after women were allowed to act) men were only depicted by men

Gardevior are based from a mixture of a guardian angel, a knight, a doll, and a kind of dancer as well as just the general concept of gravity fairies. Most of which are both male and female. Gallade is based solely on the concept of a knight in shinning armor which are always male. Also the internet's general take on Gardevior might also had a role to play as they almost always depict Gardevior as female, even though it is androgynous in design. Hence why Gallade was designed the way it was, and a combination of Gallade's existence and the internet is probably why Gardevior got the wedding dress for it's mega evolution.

Gardevoir and Gallade are some of my favorite Pokemon design-wise, and while I still enjoy using Mega Gallade (I use one to represent Kris on my Deltarune team), I find myself using Mega Gardevoir on more teams, including a shiny one to represent Alice Angel on my Bendy and the Ink Machine team. So I guess I prefer it by default.

I actually love them both equally but I found myself cheering for Gallade for both battles (maybe bc I find Gardevoir a little overrated sometimes hmmm) Nonetheless both have awesome typings and designs! Okay... I honestly expected more of a tournament-style event, with the winners going on to face each other in a final battle. Then again, that would have been pointless, considering how Mega Evolution pretty much makes it next to impossible to lose to non-Megas.

I don't like to say it but the mega gallades have the advantage cause both forms have good sp def, but the high attack stat on gallade compliments the low defense of either form. So gardevoir needs more hits with its high special attack. it's good that the gardevoir got that 1 shot in.

Gallade is my second favorite Pokemon, so obviously I prefer Gallade over Gardevoir. Also wanna say, most people would think Gardevoir is the strongest of the two because of it's typing, but keep in mind that Gardevoir has low physical defence while Gallade has high physical attack, so using Shadow Sneak - a priority move - would give Gardevoir a lot of trouble. It's not always about the typing when deciding which Pokemon will win.

My one big problem with Gallade was that you don't get the stone to evolve a kirlia into gallade super late in oras (or through super training I know) I would have loved for all male kirlia to become gallade and the female ones to become guardevoir (but that sadly wouldn't work with male guardevoir brought up from gen 3 games I know)

I think you should choose mega gardevoir because gardevoir can use light screen protect and block but gallade can’t use it but you should choose gallade if you are fighting a poison or steel type so there for choose gardevoir.
