Finally, after 9 months, this is done. I hope you all enjoy it.
Some notes:
1) This is not strictly a ROM hack, so don't ask for a ROM. This is footage of me playing Mega Man 3 with the music silenced with music added back in with a video editor.
2) Didn't cover epilogue because wanted to play the entirety of Proto Man's theme
3) Didn't make a 2nd version of Wily 1 because I don't like it much, instead I covered the Wily song from the Game Boy game.

Agreed! MM3 already had my favorite Robot Master boss theme in the series, but each of the different versions in the boss rush (especially Top Man and Shadow Man's remixes!) made it even better still!

Kinda surprising how much the VRC6 voices improve MM3's soundtrack, it really does seem to be written with more harmony in mind. Hard Man's theme benefits especially well from the extra sound chip.

You know what I liked about this? You did each Robot Master's theme in a slightly different style. Magnet Man's theme is kinda jazzy, Gemini Man's sounds like it should be playing in Dracula's mansion, Hard Man's is almost militaristic, Needle Man has this nifty echo to it...just absolutely brilliant.

Great job on Spark Man. You made an already heavy song even heavier. I also love the funky Magnet Man remix. Not really what I expected :P Didn't like Shadow Man though.. It's not bad but it didn't appeal to me. Not the first one at least. But the second remix is great,

Because there are a hell of a lot of little kids that have probably never touched a fucking NES that believe that the music is 8-bit. I most certainly was not around for the NES sadly. The SNES though is a different story. I hope this "240p for awesome" shit dies out one day.

It's funny how the english translation worked out for this game. The main names are actually musical references. Roll never changed, but they decided to use Megaman and Protoman respectively. When their actual names are Rockman and Blues. I wonder why the change though?

When the robot masters in the credits appear when ProtoMan's theme plays, I imagine something like in Mega Man 9, when they find new places to live, or something like that.

I get it though. Keeping to the original score has been a philosophy that's gone pretty far back, to the days when OCRemix and VGMix used to engage in turf wars. Personally though, I really like when people put their own influences into covers and remakes, like GekkoYamori's Sonic 4 adaptions. I don't think one approach is more valid than the other. Changes in time signature/tempo, changing the intensity and tone, I think that stuff makes this more interesting than the average MM3 cover project.

I especially dig the Sparkman remix, this tune always used to charge me up, Hardman's remix is also very cool to listen to. There was an exceptional darkness to MegaMan 3 I felt compared to the rest, made the journey feel fulfilling. Thanks for all this effort RushJet1, this is supercharged nostalgia. :D haha.

the way this game works is that there can only be 3 of his pellets on screen at once, but if your standing point blank at an enemy you can rapid fire because as soon as they appear they hit their target so there's never 3 on the screen at once in those situations so you can mash the button as fast as you want, he's not using a turbo controller he's just mashing the button

Such incredible remixes. Even the MM3 songs I didn't like as much (Top Man, Shadow Man, Needle Man for example) are goosebumpingly good! I also really like the tempo and pitch changes here and there; it makes the songs better while still maintaining the same nostalgic feeling since the melodies we all know and love are still there. The added arpeggios on Spark Man, oh my god my ears are dancing!

I think that, for Mega Man Day In The Limelight 2, you could make some Doc Robot themes for Hard Man, Snake Man, Magnet Man and Top Man. (Obviously, you won't be necessarly wanting to do this, but asking you this was all I wanted, oh and your mega man covers are genuine.)

You know the Playstation 1 version of megaman 3 (and all the other megaman games) have their music as individual files, mp3 or wav or whatever. So it'd be pretty easy for someone to open that version up and put this music in for real.

I actually looked into this, and its a bit more complicated but totally possible. I downloaded the psx version of Rockman 3 online and it came in a .bin and .cue files. So I opened up the .cue and found one .xa file for the sound effects, and an .xa file for all the gbm. And I found this www.romhacking.net/utilities/894/ tool that opens up .xa files so you can get at all the .wav files inside and replace them. So, if you converted all the .mp3s that Rushjet1 provided on his bandcamp into .wavs, and used that tool to replace them, in theory it would totally work. I'm too lazy to go about it myself right now. Only thing is like how you probably wouldn't be able to use all the remixes because Rockman 3 reuses music for multiple levels, and RushJet1 has new music for every stage. You'd have to pick and choose.

I honestly don't know why whether he is using turbo or not is even an issue, since it takes more than just turbo to not die a single time through-out an entire playthrough. He obviously has the enemy locations and how to deal with them memorized, as well as the robot masters' patterns. His skill is obvious. Both in the game and with composing chiptunes. What's more, I don't remember the game letting you hold down the button for continuous fire. I remember having to press it each time.
