Finally! Mega Man 4 Cover Playthrough/Remade is out! Get the MP3s/NSF here: rushjet1.bandc...
As always, it's pay what you want.
This has several changes from the original game other than the music - there are no password screens between levels, the health bars all fill up way faster, a couple new music cues, and a few other video editing things that I wish had been features in the original game. This is recorded directly from my NES with an XRGB and an Elgato HD doing the video processing.

Hm. I have mixed feelings about these remixes, though I'm normally a big fan of what you do. I'm sure it's partially nostalgia getting the better of me, but some of these tunes don't feel as transformed as I would expect from a cover or remix (the first part of the intro cutscene, for instance), and a few of them have too much going on (Ring Man is a bit overwhelming for my brain to process). Drill Man, Dive Man, Pharaoh Man, and Wily 1 are really good, though, and some of the others are a sort of lateral shift that I like about as much as the originals. Oh, and I approve of using Wire Adaptor as an offensive weapon.

If I were to choose the next Cover Playthrough... I'd choose Megaman 10. I love its soundtrack and I do not understand why people forget about it or even dislike it, but either way, I know you'd make it amazing for everyone and I feel it really deserves it.

Question by the way: when you play these, do you have some way of isolating JUST the sound effects without the original BGM playing, or do you re-insert all the sound effects in post for the video?

+SonicDestroyer12 It's a game genie code, or it originally was, and it's different for each game. I found the place in the ROM that the game genie code is modifying and edited it in a hex editor, then put it on my PowerPak.

YES! Ever since your tease with the Pharaoh Man cover, I waited for this and after 2 years it finally did come out! Once again, I can see myself getting used to your magnificent covers of the game and forget the original music even exists. I was most impressed by Cossack Stage 1, Cossack Boss, Wily Stage 1 (the beginning sounds like you used the VRC7 chip) and Pharaoh Man (still sounds great). I like how you put Ballade's theme as the last stage just like Enker in MM1. I also feel that putting Dive Man and swing together works much better than it did with Magnet Man. Great job as always!

Hey RushJet, do you plan to do a Megaman 5 VRC6 album? If so, any idea on when to look for it? You are by far my favorite chiptune cover artist with your ability to greatly expand on already great classic tunes. Although I've never thought so, Megaman 4 is often considered mediocre, so it's wonderful you gave it this special attention so people might take another look and think "huh, maybe 4 isn't as bad as people think".
