You need to stop the pipe clip as early as possible so you can load the warpzone on the last pixel of the world 3 pipe and then do a backwards fast-acceleration. Edit: I should mention that I didn't find this framerule save, KingOfJonnyBoy did. His video for it is titled "Walkathon 1-2g subpixel setup+ANOTHER framerule".

I learned about speed running stumbling on a kosmic video few years ago. Had no prior knowledge of any of it. Was normally only on yt for sports and older Rap from 90's. I didn't understand why he was eating pizza the way he was til i found out about 'passing mario in 5 minutes'. The community is fascinating and at same time hilarious af. I think Happylee has a no left-press TAS, in 1-2 you use the big mario clip at the top of the wall thats usually done for minus world then warp to 5-1 in the middle pipe (faster since 4-2 warpzone can't be used)

I find the accusations of cheating to get over 1 tile gaps funny too. The skipping one tile gaps thing was something I knew as a kid, as someone who was not and still isn't a speedrunner. Mind you, I even knew this when the only versions I had access to were All-Stars and later Super Mario Bros Deluxe on gameboy color. So it is absolutely intentional.

I dig some of the nuance in this run, like 4-3, which Kosmic says hasn't been done without the b button, outside of a TAS... Sounds like a challenge! (Though far, far beyond my skill... But K implies that it IS doable: is it?) Heck, I can and do appreciate the otherworldly craziness that the best runners can do! Maybe with each frame that you press B, 0.1 seconds is added or something, so that "SMB2J Walkathon" could be a thing. Like you could press B whenever it's necessary.

I did it once to spawn a koopa for a challenge run i was doing, tho i dont know if its just slower to do that or if it even scrolls far enough I was using a hitbox at the time, dont know if that has anything to do with it. It has socd so it should function just like a normal controller would

This randomly reminded me of this quote “Challenge Complete!” and also… “Challenge- well almost complete because I just a smidge short of doing it, cmon guys I was so close to getting this completed” Whoever knows what KZbinr that quote is from that’s great and if not that’s fine. From what I remember he beat Super Mario 3D World with as many restrictions as possible, and got famous for it. He then did the same thing on Bowsers Fury and New Super Mario Wii U before finding an impossible jump on World 6-6 which killed his run. Aka what the thumbnail says.

i'm gonna be real . when NSO first came out , i handed my pro controller to my dad and he played a level of SMB1 and got to the top of the flag . i had played 1-1 before and wasnt able to get to the top of the flag , so i had asked him how he did that . that was how i found out SMB1 had a run button .
