This game was released in November 1993 as one of the last games for the NES, while Mega Man X released a month later on the SNES. From what I have seen, Mega Man VI was more like a game that people played while they were waiting for what would arrive on the SNES. Of course, nobody could have anticipated that the original series would also continue on the SNES with Mega Man 7 in 1995, nor that Capcom would gradually release Mega Man 8 through 11 via different consoles and keep changing the graphics in the span of over 20 years from 1996/97 to 2018.

It's pretty amazing how many games they were able to pump out for one series. Mega Man was basically a yearly release for 10 years (almost 13 years, but they skipped 1989). Call of Duty wasn't the first annual series.

Evidently, even Capcom themselves felt the fake villain stunt got tiring very quick. A really good sendoff to the Blue Bomber's run on NES though, especially with the addition of Mega Man's ability to merge with Rush by creating two different suit adaptors: Jet and Power.

I really enjoy playing Mega Man 6. I like how the boss names were picked through a fan contest by Capcom. I believe one of the fan contest winners was from Canada too - pretty cool!

Knight Man! He was designed by a gamer from Quebec. I entered the contest, too! I got a nice form letter thanking me for my entry (that was worded in a way that made it sound like Capcom really, REALLY liked my ideas for "Laser Man", "Tentacle Man", and "Armour Man".)

I didn't notice that the names during the credits besides each Robot Master was the winner of a contest as a little kid. And it was Daniel Vallée for Knight Man; another non-Japanese winner was Wind Man's creator, Michael Leader.

I think Mega Man 6 has a bit of an underrated soundtrack. If nothing else, I think the stage select theme is my favorite; I always think of it if I see something like a fan art a character select screen.

It may not be the best overall game, but for sure had the best graphics of the whole series. And again, Capcom teach a lesson on how to utilize the NES color palete.

This is the game I play the most after Mega Man 2. I really like the Metroidvania-light nature of it and the Flame Man’s stage music is one of my personal favourites in the series. In a nutshell, it’s just an extremely pleasant gaming experience (like a similar feel to Super Adventure Island II). The box art is awesome too.

This is one of my favorite Mega Man games next to Mega Man 4 and to be very honest, this is a fairly decent one. It is sad it is released in 1993 where players already moved on to SNES and the Mega Man series are growing weak, so after that they finally decided to make a new Mega Man game to leap into the 16-bit era. They first released their first one but in a different series called Megaman X, until they released Mega Man 7 along with X2 for the SNES. Okay, back to 6, the intro has different music. The Japanese version was a lot better in my opinion. Also, the gameplay is the same as Mega Mans 3 to 5 with jumping, the shooting and sliding. They still retains his Charge Shot in 4 and 5. The bosses are new and my favorites are Tomahawk Man, Knight Man and Yamato Man, but the story is still the same gist, Dr. Wily causing chaos and Mega Man must stop him, but this is about the mysterious Mr. X going on. Overall, the game still balances well as a standard Mega Man game. The story is subpar, but the game still doesn’t disappoint me in its 8-bit glory.

Well done on All NES MegaMan Original Series on 4K. They where Ultimately Fun as each theme is Enjoyable as the next as i know them all by Heart. It goes with well with Great Justice as a Final Send off on the NES's Run time...

Thanks to this play through I was able to follow along and add MM6 along with 1 through 5 I can beat, what I really liked about this one was the difficulty was just right, like the goldilocks of the series, not to soft not to tuff , fun play through!!!!

May be the weakest in the NES hexology, but the Rush Power and Rush Jet adaptors are cool. Best songs are Wind Man, Tomahawk Man, and Mr. X’s theme. This game also introduces the Energy Balancer, and Blues makes a cameo to give you that.

I get that it's a rehash, but I thought it was cool in its own way. It was awesome that at least one American and Canadian got their designs in a contest (kinda wish they'd still do that and perhaps partner up with DeviantArt or something) and it was innovative in its use for the Rush upgrades. Never got to play the game when it came out (my NES got fried in a thunderstorm, and my family couldn't afford to replace it at all) so I had to wait til years later when Mega Man Anniversary Collection came out. Enjoyed it!

I love the Rush Adaptors but the weapons in 6 are not as fun to use as previous games. I think you can make an exception for Silver Tomahawk since it's probably the most useful in the later Wily levels. By this point, they nailed the formula. Still a great Mega Man game but it's probably the 5th best on the console

I'd put this one more or less next to MM 4. I come back to those 2 quite often, but they're behind 2 and 3 for me. I like the soundtrack more than in MM 5, and the stages/bosses are more interesting too IMO, though it is definitely a rehash to a large extent. Still, it's a pretty good one overall.

Ugh, the end of Plantman’s level always gave me a panic attack. I still hold my breath during that part, even if I’m watching someone else play. One of the most nerve wracking parts of any Megaman game!!

Not counting the Game Boy version of Mega Man II, this was only the second "classic series" Mega Man game anyone in our household ever owned. Prior to that all we had was Mega Man 2 (the NES version) and Mega Man X1.

I have mixed opinions on this one. On the one hand I like the Rush Adaptors, the branching paths in the stages, music, and ease of entry for the game. On the other hand the game is too easy for a Mega Man game equal in difficulty with 2, the story is awful, and the robot masters are a bit too generic for my taste but it's still better than Mega Man 5 for what it's worth.

Tank in this game, we really admired that we don't dislike this game, we like this game being too easy.

This was the first Mega Man game I played, technically, on the Anniversary Collection (as I was born in '94) and first time around, the game was fun. It wasn't until I went back and played the other entries that my opinion of MM6 changed. Though it has sentimental value as the first Mega Man game I played, the game itself was boring in hindsight.

To be fair, they're all above average games. If you pick up and play any one of them individually, it's a good time. If you play all 6 of them in a marathon via a compilation, it starts to really wear thin around 4.

Honestly, out of all the NES Megaman games... this one is the weakest and least memorable for me. Not that it's bad by any means... but if even Capcom didn't want to get it released state-side, you know there wasn't much incentive left to continue the series with the aging 8-bit hardware. I mean, come on... even a beginning fan would know that 'Mr. X' is surprise surprise just a lame disguise of the real villain. The story is laughable, which is probably why it's the one thing that sticks out from the other games... but still... it's an insult to make us believe 'it's NOT Dr. Wily this time, I swear!'. All of the RM weapons are tired, lame, situational rehashes of older weapons... the designs of the Robot Masters themselves, while varied and more original, are sadly very forgettable with but a couple of them... and their themes and stages don't stick out so much for me as worth playing over and over again for fun. To any newcomer of this franchise, if you insist of choosing a starting point... this isn't the worst point to begin. But your time is better spent on the other NES titles... even the first one, in all of its janky and difficult glory, is more worth your time.

I beat the game today so here's my two cents: I don't know what happened during the development of MM 6, but the game is too easy. No matter which robot master you choose to fight first, all of them are easy to defeat mega-buster only. The new weapons are boring and there's no need to use them, in fact, you can do the "robot masters' weapons only" challenge . There're also a lot of enemies who take several shoots before being destroyed, and many of them have shields, so you have to wait in order to shoot them, or, just take the hit and pass by them. There isn't any fun battle, all of them are extremely easy, even the Wily fights, and don't get me wrong, I don't want a super difficult game, but battles should be fun and challeging (like Gravity Man in MM5). But is not a bad game, just mediocre at best.

Some good ideas here, but not all of them executed well, unfortunately. Things..... Just feel rather rushed, at worst. There are ROM Hacks out there that make this game better, however. Same with 5. The music is alright, but the music in 5 was better, as well. Unpopular opinion? I'm aware and I don't care!
