Mega Man Battle Network 3 - Bass GS!

Bass forgot everything... but somehow became much stronger.
His Buster Rake now deals approx. 300 damage, his aura now repels all attacks under 200 (however, it can be blown by Northwind battle-chip). Sometimes he uses his new attack: firstly he will drop two clawed hands on your area, cracking two random panels, then he will use Gospel Breath, burning most of your panels.
To beat him, destroy firstly his aura. Use anything dealing over 200 damage (StepCross can destroy his aura despite his nominal power), or simply blow it out with Northwind. Then use PlantMan Mega-chip to stun him for your next attacks! Plasma will be useful against him, but it requires some skills.

@@Echidnai not really. His role was very much similar to his X counterpart. But Bass and Cossack's relationship was very much like a true father and son dynamic. It was Scilab's mistrust in the two that lead to Bass' warped perspective on human and Navi relationships. And after this game he would go on to be completely consumed by the dark power to the point of no return. Atleast Colonel died fighting for what he believed in. His death would also help kindle the emotion in Wily which actually changed him for the better.

@@yujirohamna2430 I agree. I'm not quite sure myself if Bass did forgive Cosack (I imagine that he kinda did at some level, but sadly, Cosack is said to have lost his memory at the end of the game...)

@@Gazing-09 bass doesn't even remember who Cossack was at this point in the story. And by MegaMan Battle Network 4 Bass was completely corrupted by dark power and if you talk to the guardians of the Evil chips, Bass' soul was completely overtaken by darkness. Cossack is fine, he just thought Bass was destroyed and never thought to look for him any further.

I remember playing this game blind as an 8 year old after beating the newer Battle Network games and audibly going, "Oh shit." Once I saw Bass approach. He is 100% more difficult to manage in the older Battle Networks with the recharging shields he has.

It's too bad the old developers left this on a cliffhanger. It sounds like they would have expanded Bass' role in the sequels, perhaps as a reborn anti-villain.

Yeah, some of the harder versions of bass in 4-6 were just as hard as bass here if not harder. Especially bass XX in 5 who has 4000 hp life aura AND is aggressive as hell

I mean, Bass BX's buster is literally undodgeable and requires either defensive chips, invis, or flinching him to not get hurt. Calling Bass BX a pushover is kind of not really true.

It's unclear whether this entity is the real Bass, or one of the copies formed from BugFusion. The fact that he emerges from the BugFrag trader and uses the Multi-Bug Organism's head as a weapon seems to indicate that this MBO itself, the boss of MMBN2, who appeared in the form of Bass first and then turned into the giant wolf shape (reminiscent of Gregar from game 6) when MegaMan defeated his Bass form. The real Bass tried to exterminate all of the copies of himself that Gospel created, but it's possible this one was able to survive by disguising itself as bugs and spreading all over the Internet, patiently waiting for some dumb kid to bring enough of those pieces back together that it could reform.

@@spazerabanekozeroshki That and back then, True Bass actually managed to absorb Gospel into him. Speaking of which : Gospel isn't seen in MBN6... Did the absorption of a Cybeast (Which are stated to be M.B.O perfected - which I kinda doubt since I learned about the existence of the Bugrizer) overread Gospel from Bass?

@@Gazing-09 actually gospel is seen in battle network 6 through a program advance though and in my opinion it didn't because the power that bass absorbed is cybeast falzar not gregar

@@EnvisionerWill it's the real Bass. The ending of the main game showed that Bass survived nearly being destroyed by alpha. And the multi bug organism merely fused with him. Also none of the clones where able to duplicate the get "ability program" which was why Wily ended up contacting Bass in the first place.

I honestly don't remember, I haven't played MMBN for more than 4 years but I remember BN3 post-story Bass being one-time encounter which means he drops his signature chip regardless of your score and whatever. But I don't think I have ever actually used his Giga Chip because FolderBack was so stupidly good.

You also encounter bass during the storyline where you can’t inflict any damage to him and you have to lose (you drop to 1hp you don’t die). He annihilates flameman in one attack

Trade 300 bugfrags to the bugfrag trader and defeat Serenade. Plantman v4 is obtained either by the bugfrag trader (very rare) or by S ranking Plantman Beta by killing him with no damage/flinching in under 20 seconds with Team as your Style. If you do not have Team style you will get the v3 chip instead.
