Mega Man (Game Gear) - Quickie

Good video! I had this game as a kid. The game is a strange mix of pieces from the NES Mega Man games. The fact that you fight more Robot Masters in a linear path was just a really bizarre design choice. I was just happy to have a portable color Mega Man game as a kid so I overlooked a lot of the weirdness in this game. I still have some fondness for this game despite the odd design choices.

Mega Man 2 was the first video game I ever played on a family friend's NES when I was five. It made a huge impression on me. I remember the box art, the music, and even the smell of the downstairs den-like room I first played it in. I was hooked from there. I played every game boy mega man available, and still whistle Electric Man's music to this day, now that I'm 41. I actually had a Game Gear before I had my Game Boy, and had I known this game even existed, I would have been all the fuck over it! Great video, mate!

I love the detail to that memory! First impressions that stick with you for a lifetime. MM2 was also my first Mega Man game and I'll never forget it! If you're itching for more obscure, but fun Mega Man games, check out the Wonderswan Mega Man and Bass game. It's not amazing, but it's interesting to see how MegaMan handles on different systems

Silly design choices, maybe they just messed up in the planning phase and couldn't correct it. But it does present questions that could build new formats of Mega Man. What if you could only have 6 weapons even if there were 8 robot masters? I'd love a Mega Man game that had a randomized set of bosses but with logic connecting them; giving the player a puzzle to solve and strategy to develop each playthrough. Maybe it exists in a Rom Hack... dunno

@@bboyjaynerd try 20xx and 30xx, they're roguelike megaman games that are quite good. I agree that exploring the formula would really do the franchise some good

2:50 megaman 4 gb is unbelievably cheap too. So game gear mm is par for the course 😆. 4:15 lose charge within or mm4 gb charge recoil that can knock you off a platform 😂. Terrible lol
