Proves the power of the GB, that despite this looking vastly more interesting, and pretty unarguably better looking than the numerous GB Mega Man games, they are still better.
@MoonSarito3 жыл бұрын
It's funny that this game never won a Master System version in Europe or Brazil, in these places the Master System survived for years by gaining ports of Game Gear games (even some horrible games like Sonic Blast) and the Master System version always had a bigger advantage because of the screen resolution. It would be interesting if that happened because then the Master System would have a MegaMan game like the NES.
@NintendoComplete6 жыл бұрын
This is an excellent Mega Man game on one of the last systems you'd expect to find it on. Just like the Game Boy games, it impresses with just how well it approximates the gameplay of the NES originals.
@Dorian_Scott6 жыл бұрын

Dorian Scott It's a mashup of the two, similar to how I-IV did things on the GB
@RetrOfir6 жыл бұрын
NintendoComplete x Actually, this game doesn’t really do much to differentiate itself from the NES games, which somewhat disappoints because the Game Boy games, despite the recycling of Robot Masters, were almost entirely original and had features to reappear in later games such as the shop in IV or the Mega Man Killers and stage gimmicks

Gameplay seems mostly solid. Bosses seem to have gotten an unfair speed boost, though, and the soundtrack has several odd choices for events (no victory jingle, Gravityman's music on Waveman's stage, parts of Cossack's fortress music as the boss selected and weapon get screens, etc).

I find it strange that Wave Man uses Gravity Man's theme... despite Wave Man's theme already being in the game. You can hear it during the game over screen, or at least the first five seconds of it...
@sammyyo4616 жыл бұрын
Isn't that "Gravity Man's" theme playing in "Wave Man's" stage?? This looks quite like an interesting port, however the screen crunch and vertical scrolling must make for many cheap deaths and bold leaps of faith, right?? Also, quite interesting that the dev. team decided to use "Quick Man's" stage for Wily's Fortress, but from the looks of it, at least the beam traps don't kill you upon contact... ...
@NintendoComplete6 жыл бұрын
RockmanSam Yeah, until you know the levels there are a fair amount of cheap deaths because it's so zoomed in. The beams in Wily's take a big chunk, but thankfully they aren't one hit kills anymore.

MISSION PERFECT! XD I didn't know there was a Mega Man game on Game Gear! It actually looks nice, considering. Music isn't as good as NES of course but otherwise pretty faithful to the NES classics. I'm impressed! ...But needless to say, this port is pretty much obsolete if you already own the original NES classics unless you're some kind of obsessive game collector like...someone I know. XD

I found an article that ranked every mega man franchise title ever. I was excited until I saw the number 1 spot. I'm not mad that this game is somehow better than all the other games like classic, X, Zero, ZX, Legends, Battle Network, and Star Force. It's that this game takes the top spot and the article just stops. It didn't mention why this game is number one. They mentioned why other games deserved their spots on the list, but fell silent on this one. This game is serviceable at best. If you want a Mega Man game on Game Gear, it does its job, but you won't get much more than that. This game has no plot. Maybe that's why it took the number one spot. No plot, just robot masters, Wily, the end and with nothing in-between. Short and sweet. That article was such a troll.

Would be cool to see some more Game Gear platformers on your channel. There are some pretty good Japan exclusives, like that Kishin Doujin Zenki game. As to this game, it's not too bad. Only the sound could be better I guess, but it's still fine for what it is IMO!
@NintendoComplete6 жыл бұрын
Marius Amber Yeah, I've been meaning to. I've done a few (as well as Master System games that were only released for GG in the US) if you want to check out my Handhelds and Master System playlists. Any good ones in English that you'd recommend?
@mariusamber32376 жыл бұрын
This will be a long post, haha. So, in no particular order (for GG): Coca-Cola Kid (there's a fan translation), Tails Adventure (yeah, that's how it's spelled!), Sylvan Tale (again, there's a fan translation available - a pretty fun action RPG), maybe Chakan: The Forever Man (it differs somewhat from the other versions); now on to SMS: Alex Kid in Shinobi World (an easy-but-fun platformer), all Asterix games (hugely popular in Europe, as you surely know), maybe Captain Silver (just don't play the US version, it's REALLY butchered compared to the others), Danan: The Jungle Fighter (has some interesting themes, and isn't very long), Golden Axe Warrior (a Zelda knock-off, but a pretty well-made one), Golvellius (same as GAW!), Kenseiden (a well-regarded samurai platformer), all the Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck games, maybe Spellcaster/Kujakuu Ou and last, but not least - Wonder Boy III (probably my favourite game for the SMS, bar none)! As to the ones in Japanese, the only one I can think of right now for GG is that Kishin Doujin Zenki game for the Game Gear. GG and SMS didn't have that many Japanese exclusives of note, after all. I guess you very likely know some of the games I mentioned, since this is probably the top-of-the-tier selection!
