@@Red_Biker_Dude Honestly I kind of wish they kept that for the rest of the series. A few bosses in Megaman 2 become unbeatable if you run out of their weakness weapon (the Boobeam trap in the 4th Wily stage, and the final boss alien), and you have to intentionally get a game over to get your weapon energy back.

The way I dealt with the clone fight was I actually used the magnet item, he doesn’t shoot when it’s equipped. So you can then buffer between items and get in some cheap shots, and he’s completely powerless.

Thanks to the rom hacking community, there are patches that give this game some nice QoL features. There is one that removes Mega Man's skid, another that removes the score (and score items), and also one that refills your weapon energy after you die (so you don't have to ammo farm).

Small tip, the pause glitch works because invincibility frames aren't paused during the select pause. If a small amount of time is let to pass between pause and unpause, extra hits will occur much more consistently.

I beat this a year or two ago without save states, that last section drove me absolutely insane and those poorly program enemy platforms that hit you almost pushed me over the edge. Presumably this game having a score system is a holdout from the arcade days when games generally didn't have endings, needed some way to keep track of how good you were Anyway, good stuff, never knew the Magnet Beam was chargeable, that alone makes the game a lot less headache-inducing, I'll have to keep that in mind when I eventually go back and try to finally beat this

When I beat this game I didn’t use any exploits other than the save states that the anniversary collection on the 3ds had just though that was a little too cheap

First off, I want to say that I love this new series, Ryu. Secondly, I would like for you to continue the Mega Man/Rockman series for your difficult videos, please? Mega Man 2, then 3, etc. I'd love to see how you break down the difficulty between each game. Thank you. :)

Thank you my lovely Beardo. Following your careful tutelage, I was able to beat Megaman just now! It was still hard, but I felt like a hero afterwards. These hard-ass Nintendo games would have been a million times easier back in the day if you could just pull up a walkthrough video any time you wanted!

My greatest achievement was to beat Megaman 9 and 10 with both characters..I got 5 stages into 9 without damage and wanted to try that game without taking damage but it’s pretty tough..GG

YESSSS!!!! Ryu!!!!! Thank you for playing a Mega Man title again! Its such an underrated series and I'm really trying to get more people to talk about it. Also I found it funny you started with Guts man first. That was my go to choice as well [Him or Cutman] until I found out the "Actual" first robot master to vs is Bombman in terms of easiest run. Also , Also, quick mention in the water level boss of wilys castle, I would use my Mega buster first to get it down to half health then use guts arm to finish the job. This way if your health bar is low before you switch you don't have to waste Guts and have to face it without his weakness. You had no issues obviously but its a good tip for beginners!

17:41 My favorite way to beat this version of the Sniper Joe is to freeze him with the ice slasher when he lets his guard down. He'll stay frozen like that for a bit, leaving him wide open so you can pummel him with other weapons.

Thanks a lot, this guide inspired me to start Mega Man 1 again, and I just defeated the Yellow Devil. No pause exploit, no quick saves. I went to the beginning of the stage after every game over, and it was annoying. However, it was super fun to learn the pattern and super rewarding to finally take that yellow thing down. Standby for updates, I hope the rest of the game won't take long. Upd: I finished it. Boy was it close, I was down to my last life. Both Wily machines weren't difficult at all, but I found it hard to keep my cool and have enough health by the time I got to the finale. Anyway, I'm real proud of myself for beating an NES game with no saves, and a pretty hard one at that. Your guides are great, you make it look really easy.

The Mega Man series were typically games that were rented. They were very much games that one could win in three days. First day figuring out how to beat each of the eight bosses. Second day doing so in the most efficient way to prepare for the final stages. Third day beating Dr. Wily. Worst case scenario, you wrote down your password, and rented the game again to beat it the next weekend. People seem to forget that most games were rented not owned. The NES didn't have many games designed to take a month or more to win. That concept didn't become typical until the 64 bit era, which is why they introduced memory cards.

Love seeing all my old favorite childhood games in this series of yours! I never knew that everyone thought they were that difficult. Battletoads, Castlevania, Ninja Gaiden, Batman, Megaman series, TMNT, and Blaster Master were some of my favorites! I remember the YoNoid game being tough at parts, Festers Quest as well but if you knew what to prepare for they weren't that bad. The game I had that made me throw the controller the most was Abadox. Double Dragon had some tough spots too but not impossible. All NES games had patterns. Even Punch Out, the game was all patterns.

Great video, it would be more entertaining to watch you beat the bosses without the pause glitch. Having said that, I get the whole point if the video is to show an easier way to beat a hard game. Keep up the good work 👏
