Mario 64 DS wasn't inferiour to the original. The controls were just a bit awkward. If you were to play it on a 3ds with the control stick, it'd be fine!

What's the difference between the NES ones and the GB ones? I've been playing the NES Megamen on virtual console but I don't know whether to get both versions. I didn't quite catch what these GBA games even are.

The GB MM games do things differently , stuff like the robot masters . They also do everything that was possible with the Gameboy's hardware . Thats why it has cutscenes , doesn't have sprite flickering , etc; Either way , they aren't the same game ( besides 2 ) and you'll have a different experience with the GB ports .

I agree with what you said about the previous Game Boy Mega Man games. I call them the "Mega Man World" series, after the Japanese title of the series, "Rockman World." World 1 is a decent translation from the NES to the Game Boy, but with a few issues, mainly object scaling. World 2 is... well... it's garbage. I hate this game as much as the next guy, and I consider it one of the worst Mega Man games ever made, and the worst Classic Mega Man game I've played. World 3 is a drastic improvement over World 2, but I find World 3 to be the most dickish when it comes to the stage design, with Spark Man's stage coming to mind. World 4 is when the Game Boy series *really* got good, and thanks to World 4, we got the shop system that Mega Man 7 and later games would implement, and cutscenes were starting to be used to its advantage a lot more. Then we have World 5, and I have to say, there's no better way the Game Boy series had to go than with this game. I love that World 5 has its own stages, bosses, music, and weapons, as a common complaint with the previous 4 games was that apart from new music and the Mega Man Killers (fuck you, Quint), there wasn't really anything new about them. I still say Worlds 1, 3 and 4 are worth playing, but in the end, apart from a few aspects, there's nothing new to them. World 5 gets rid of that complaint, and while the stage design, bosses, and enjoyment factor are the best in the series, the weapon system and music didn't live up to that same quality. The soundtrack is pretty good, but it pales in comparison to the likes of World 3, which is my favorite soundtrack of the World series overall. Don't get me wrong, themes like Pluto, Saturn, the Wily Star, and Sunstar are amazing, but apart from those themes, the rest of the music ranges from great to decent. The weapon system is also pretty weak in my opinion, with Tango being useless, and the Grab Buster being the only weapon I would use reliably. Despite those two complaints, Mega Man World 5 is a fantastic game, and my favorite of the World series. If there was a Mega Man World game I'd recommend people, it would be this one, since it's the most original, and has the best level design. :)

If so, I can say that I have gotten some fair use out of the majority of 5's weapons, they just require a good amount of experimentation, which is one of the reasons why 5 is my second favorite NES Mega Man game. If you're asking me what the most underwhelming weapon system is, I gotta say 10.

I really wish the cartridge were cheaper. I always prefer to play GB games on my GBASP because it gives most games a splash of color. To me, that color is essential to the Mega Man series. It's what makes the Blue Bomber blue!
