Another reason Spring Man is weak to Slash Claw is because springs are usually made from thin wires wound into a spiral, and just as Elec Man is weak to Rolling Cutter, wires used to make springs are weak to sharp objects like pliers. This can be seen in Spring Man's damage animation from Slash Cutter, where fragments of his springs can be seen falling off his body.
@ChiefMedicPururuАй бұрын
Good point.

You could take this logic in a completely different direction given that springs are mainly tension based and Slash Claw being the obvious. It essentially becomes a literal phrase of "Cut the tension with a knife"

I read somewhere (well, since I don't have the source you can say it's "trust me bro" lol) that the reason that it's Spring Man weakness is because Slash Claw could go through the tiny gaps of Spring Man's coily body and harm his internals. When I read it I was like "hah...it makes sense"

Hi there, great video! As an electrician, at 10:34 there is another reason why Bright Man is weak to the Rain Flush that isn't really a huge problem anymore with LED lights. The older style incandescent bulbs like what is on Bright Man's head will actually be destroyed by water hitting them when turned on. They don't exactly explode, but the water hitting a hot bulb like that causes a hole to be made in the bulb itself or the glass to crack and break, and then since it isn't pressurized anymore, the bulb goes out.

I didn't mention it because it was a rationalization that they only came up with years after they made the game, in Mega Man and Bass. He's afraid of snakes because the Search Snake is his weakness, not the other way around. Though I do kind of regret not bringing it up. I was under the impression that pharaoh man’s weakness to flash stopper was because harsh light can degrade artifacts over time. It’s why you’re not allowed to photograph certain things in museums with your flash on. Also for sword man, if you cool metal too rapidly it can make it brittle and susceptible to breaking. Splashing cold water on a flaming sword might have that effect.

Heh, I remember there was a small crisis in Egypt a decade or two ago that was basically: the pyramids are getting fucked from the inside because of bad breath. No, seriously. Googling now, it seems it was either debunked, or not as big a factor as industrial pollution and just 'erosion' by physical contact, but if I remember right, the gist of it was that bad breath includes hydrogen sulphide-- plus humidity from breath and sweat, and the fact that the inside of the Pyramids are literally enclosed tombs = acid rain.

I'm gonna try and give lore reasons for some weakness: Shade Man: Vampires are weak to silver in mythology, and Wild Coils might be made of silver or atleast some variant of it. Quick Man: Flash Stopper freezing him so suddenly messes up his internal systems from whiplash. Wind Man: Pilots need focus to fly planes, so a sudden flash can disrupt them. Spring Man: Springs can be damaged by certain blades. Cloud Man: Explosions cause clouds to disperse. Astro Man: Heat seeking weapons can counter flying targets. Plug Man: Diamonds are insulators.
@maxuwlАй бұрын
Spring man does seem to get cut in half while hitting with the slash, separating the legs from the head
@FlamingMercury5Ай бұрын
Those could very much be true.
@RockSoupАй бұрын
I like to imagine that Quick Man's acceleration and movement systems generate a lot of heat and his fast movement helps disperse the heat, so if his engine is revving (so to speak) but he's stuck in place, his internals begin to overheat and damage his body.
@TechnoKnight2520Ай бұрын
Also Wood Man's systems are also mostly made of wood therefore making him extremely flammable.
@KahilaTheArtSlimeАй бұрын
I'll bring out my own interpretation here. According to manuals, Wind Man was originally designed to assist in harvests in China, Kentauros Man represents a War Horse, which during the war, would trample the fields to make it impossible to grown anything for a few years in case the territory was lost.
@ConnorTheUndyingАй бұрын
A very lore-based piece of logic actually applies to the thumbnail. Shadow Man is weak to Top Spin, not only because it knocks him off balance, but because Top Man was specifically built to deal with the likes of Shadow Man. Shadow Man was mentioned to be made of some kind of extraterrestrial alloy, implying that he wasn't built on Earth. Meanwhile, Top Man was one of the robots sent to mine out the Energy Resources needed to construct Gamma, meaning that Top Man's Top Spin might have been built to break through unknown materials due to the high-speed spin. Almost like a drill! In other words, Top Man's weapon, one used by a robot meant to search for resources alien planets, would logistically be very useful against the Robot Master made of alien material.
@Shyguy-yu1cu28 күн бұрын

I don’t know the statistics for new KZbin channels, but 7.25k subscribers (of which I am now one) and 75k views in only ten days seems pretty great! Congrats! 1. Great choice of topic - obviously a Mega Man video taps into an extensive fanbase, but also trying to invent a semi-logical explanation for each pairing in the “weakness cycle” (for all 11+ entries in the “classic” line of the franchise) is a solid formula to promise both informative and comedic entertainment. And you deliver on both, drawing on the Robot Masters Field Guide to provide fun and useful (to the topic at hand) tidbits, much as BDG did in his classic “Ranking all 200+ Mega Man Robots” video for Polygon. 2. You’ve nailed the aesthetics right off the bat - distinctive hair, style, voice, and personality, a cartoon avatar that fits you (and represents you when you’re not on-screen), and a simple but solid animated opening sequence (deployed immediately after the cold open, as is the way). 3. Your media studies classes (which you mention as a reply to another comment on this video) have taught you well. The pacing of your editing is on point, with a satisfying and appropriately chosen mix of game stills, game video, official Capcom artwork, credited stock photos and movie clips, screenshots of text articles and informative diagrams, footnotes (for things you want to add but would disrupt the pacing of the narration), and your own video clips (like the candle and the cat ones), while cutting back to your ongoing “live” main narrative video stream frequently, especially when your narrative gives you moments that entertain through vocal delivery and facial expressions. The content can be followed and enjoyed even if one is consuming the audio alone, while the visuals provide extra entertainment and information that reward the active viewer’s attention. And you close with perhaps the most thorough closing credits bibliography I have seen, avoiding a common mistake many new creators make in failing to attribute clips, music, images, sources, artwork, etc. Constructive criticism? Sometimes you look down like you’re reading from your notes - nothing wrong with needing notes but perhaps you could find a way to set them behind the camera like cue cards or a teleprompter. And it’d be helpful for potential subscribers to give some indication of what kind of content to expect in the future. Overall, great first video, especially the mix of topic knowledge with personal details that establish your persona to the audience. And yes, I *am* impressed by your huge hair! 😂

Pretty good video! There were definitely some reasonings here I hadn’t considered before. For Gemini Man, I think an alternative reason for his weakness could be that the Search Snakes “search out” the true Gemini Man. And for Pharaoh Man, sarcophaguses are fragile artifacts and in museums, they tell you “no flash photography”.
@FlamingMercury52 күн бұрын
Oh yeah! That's true too. Exposure to bright lights, like the light from the sun, can cause the color to fade from old artifacts and artwork, causing them to look completely different from how they originally looked way back then. Organic materials and pigments, which were the only thing available to humans for much of history, are more susceptible to color fading than other materials and pigments. As an example from my expertise (fashion), Queen Victoria's wedding dress was one of the first examples of a white wedding dress in history, and certainly popularized the color white for bridal gowns. Old paintings and photos of the dress indeed depict it as snow-white. However, if you look at pictures of the dress from when it was put on display in London back in 2018, it's more of a beige color. All those years soaking up light have faded the dress' white color. That's why they keep museums so dimly lit. Bright light can damage the color of the old artifacts.

There's the Collections series for Classic and X on multiple platforms coughoremulatecoughcough, ahem Depends if you wanna play for lore/story (as much as it is), or for gameplay. Gamplay, depends more on _what_ you wanna play. Old-skool action-platformer? Classic, X, Z, ZX. Linear RPG? EXE, Starforce (and in X: Command Mission). Action-shooter? Legends. Lore/story? Go down the main timeline: Classic, X, Z, ZX, Legends. EXE goes into Starforce, but is an entirely separate timeline, where Dr Light went more into inventing the Internet than physical robotics. If you just wanna play 'the best ones' --- the FF7s, the Ocarina of Times, and the Symphony of the Nights of the franchise, hmmmmmmmmmmmm... personal opinions (tho I'm sure you'll find other lists more thoroughly debated elsewhere) Classic: 2, 7. X: 1, 5, _Command Mission_ I didn't play Z, ZX, or Starforce. Legends 1 and 2 are goats. EXE: I only played 1 and 4 (Blue Moon), of which _Network Transmission_ is better because I don't like that letter chip system, let alone Pokemon-ing it with version exclusives, and you can play that one 95% like Classic.

With Spark Man, it’s also to note that Shadow Blade represents shadows, and shadows are the opposite of light (which is a spark of light). With Charge Man, I see him weak to Power Stone due to putting stones where the coal is supposed to be in the train which is not coal, putting the coal out. With Tomahawk Man, I think it’s because tomahawks aren’t as good as cutting down plants rather than a hatchet. With Burner Man, I think the reason why pushing Burner Man to the spikes is effective is because that Burner Man uses aerosol gas to make flames, and you shouldn’t pierce aerosols or they’ll explode. That’s how I see some weaknesses if those make sense
@CamPlayerGREENАй бұрын
Also early trains are powered by steam, and I see Charge Kick as coal, so hearing up water using coal gives Mega Man an advantage

@mirrortarget5729Ай бұрын
Personally my thought process with Tomahawk Man was that his stage is barren, whereas Plant Man's stage is lush. I sorta think of it like "Grass beats Ground because of the roots". You can also interpret it in an environmental way-- Plant Man's barrier blocks projectiles, and Silver Tomahawk is thrown. Symbolically, it sorta says "nature will take it back long after you're gone". In fan games (notably Mega Man Maker), Plant Barrier heals the user when shot, at the cost of some weapon ammo. This also ties into the same themes of a nurturing mother earth claiming victory against mankind's desolate warfare (although of course deserts are valid natural habitats too). I'm reading way too deep into it, but I always enjoy thinking of this kind of thing. I've learned a lot in this video and comment section.

Air Shooter I'm not sure if the number calculation counts it officially as a weakness, I just know it shreds him with A LOT of damage - more than plenty - and bypasses his shield. So, some fun fun details: Needle Man is weak to the Gemini Laser because it's a piercing weapon and Needle Man has a phobia of syringes Water wouldn't work putting out a star, they would just add to its mass. The sun is not made out of fire. Spring Man gets *stronger* if hit by electricity, because that's how we create electromagnetism. It ups his speed instead. Same with Turbo Man, it boots his car batteries. Astro Man is weak to the Homing Sniper because he has social anxiety and loves to hide, and this weapon always finds him. Burner Man is only weak to Ice Wall if it pushes him onto spikes. The actual Wall deals minimum damage to him.
@XunkunАй бұрын
Ah, yes: Wily told Burner Man that he's got a Dr Gero-style bomb inside of him, and that he has to burn a forest a day to not have it go off (an oddly dick move for him to do to one of his own robots). And as for the weakness: the ice wall pushes him into the spikes, which rupture his fuel tanks.

Gold is a dense material, but it is very soft as far as metals go. That would make it easy to compact. I'd say being dense makes it harder to lift with a vacuum.

I was gonna say the same thing, gold is malleable, so I don't think difficulty compacting it would be the issue. I think the reason would be that the ring would clog the vaccuum on his back.

My thoughts: if we're truly taking the line of thought that guts man represents construction workers; what is more anathema to construction getting done than time delays? Also yet another reason for fire to be weak to ice is fire famously needs two things to work fuel, and _heat._ Nice video, rare to see KZbin recommend a channel's first video as my first option! Good luck.

@@Darkkfated Hydrogen on its own isn't usually what comprises the majority of the gases that fires are comprised of, it's a mix of gasses like water vapor, CO2, nitrogen (which on its own ironically isn't actually combustible and can even put out fires but then so can water in liquid form) and hydrogen. And *_fires sure as hell aren't powered by fusion reactions._* If anything magma and lava are closer to fire, even if they by definition, aren't.

I always figured that Ice Man's weakness to electricity (and Cold Man's, for that matter) was due to the fact that metals become more conductive the colder they are, and thus these two cold-based robots would be more suseptible to being electrocuted. Also yes, I am impressed by your hair, it looks very 80s to me, which is fitting for a video about a game series from the 80s.

This is your first video? Man, the algorithm lottery struck pretty hard here! This is one of the finer explanation videos I've seen yet, some of these weakness explanations were from sources I've never considered before, like napalm being neutralized by crystalline substances. Some additional thoughts/elaborations: Seeing people try to explain Shadow Man's weakness to Top Spin is always amusing to follow, but an old fansite, Sinister Six, gave me one of the more plausible explanations: Shadow Man's fighting style in his debut revolves around acting on his name and being Mega Man's =shadow=, mimicking how he jumps and slides. Any Mega Man player can tell you how vulnerable Mega Man is in the air; thus, an attack capitalizing on that vulnerability, like an anti-air body contact attack like the Top Spin (or the Power Fighters' Centaur Arrow pulling anti-air), would be an effective option. The "Ice is weak to Electric" is explainable by how colder temperatures increase electric conductivity. Dive Man likes to charge at the player, so a shield weapon like the Skull Barrier would be a nasty wake-up call to him expecting to make contact damage, not to mention said shield weapon would nullify the threat of his Dive Missiles. Dust Crusher is also effective with its spread shot property as well as alluding to trash in the ocean. His appearance in Power Fighters also highlights his vulnerability to electricity. Gravity Man's strategy also relies on him crashing his body against his opponent, so the same reason above regarding a shield weapon. The Crystal Eye's secondary effect of splitting into smaller projectiles that fly all around upon bouncing against a wall may also function as a sort of cluster bomb, disorienting Napalm Man from focusing on his target and neutralizing his missiles and Napalm Bomb. Silver Tomahawk is also an anti-air weapon that arcs upwards; effective against an opponent who tends to jump high into the air alot, not unlike Crash Man's weakness to Air Shooter. Burst Man is a chemist above all else, seen with all the flasks adorning the backgrounds of his level. Desired chemical reactions require specific conditions, including temperature. That's why where he's more commonly referred to being weak against Scorch Wheel, he's also vulnerable against Freeze Cracker in the early game. Funnily enough, Slash Man shares these two weaknesses for similar reasons of temperature sensitivity. Astro Man's abundantly clear that he wants any and all hostile elements to be kept as far away from him as possible, whether by listening to his whining or just seeing how hard he is to reach most of the time. Therefore, weapons that can easily reach him, like the tracking Homing Sniper, or the vertically shooting Magic Card, are most effective. Burner Man's vulnerability to Ice Wall is less on the elemental side of things and more on how it's a counter to his fighting pattern. The dude dashes and jumps all around the arena, threatening the player with raining hellfire or using his flamethrowers to push them into the spike pits surrounding the arena. Deploying the Ice Wall itself doesn't do anything to him; it'll just sit there, leaving it a sitting duck for Burner Man to just easily melt away at it. Ice Wall being his weakness is more of a puzzle, turning Burner Man's own fighting style and arena against him by taking this erratic combatant and pinning him down by shoving the Ice Wall into him, restricting his mobility and pushing him off the arena's sides down into his own spike pits which do the real damage. But yeah, you just got yourself a new subscriber!

7:11 - I think that Crash Bomber functions as Quick Man's secondary weakness more because not even he can outrun an explosion, 8:43 - It's more that "Search Snake" can see through illusions and weak points (which is why it's Copy Mega Man's weakness, as well as Dr. Wily's secondary weakness) 10:46 - I think it's more because Bright Man's head is based on an old school incandescent bulb which generates light but also a lot of heat. Spraying cold water on a light bulb when it's turned on can cause it to shatter due to the rapid change in temperature.
@russelldoty274320 күн бұрын
Another thing to consider: the Crash Bomb attaches to surfaces and objects. If you've got one stuck on you, no amount of speed will let you escape the blast radius.

My "childhood headcannon" with Tomahawk Man was the way he seemed Native American-themed, and they had a reverence for nature, so you're attacking him an element of nature which he holds in high regard. Luckily, the weaknesses in the Zero and ZX series are easily explained: - Ice is weak to Fire because high temperatures melt ice. Please ignore that most of these enemies are fought underwater or have primarily _water_ based themes, they're totally ice types and you should think to use fire underwater to combat them! - Fire is weak to Electricity because we need to complete the triangle and Fire is already Ice's weakness; never mind that high temperatures disrupt electromagnetism and lightning strikes primarily ignite fires in nature rather than extinguish them - Electric is weak to Ice because we need to complete the triangle and Fire is already Ice's weakness; never mind the fact that electronics are far more susceptible to overheating than they are to shutting down from cooling. I guess maybe the electronics might melt the ice, turn it into water, and cause a short circuit. As you can tell, I have a low opinion of the Fire/Ice/Lightning trio as a strict elemental triangle, and of all the weakness chains you can make with it this is probably among the worst. Battle Network and Starforce instead work on opposition dualities: - Fire is weak to Aqua because water extinguishes fire BUT - Aqua is weak to Fire because fire boils water and melts ice - Wood is weak to Elec because lightning strikes break and burn trees in nature BUT - Elec is weak to Wood because wood is an electrical insulator and a bunch of leaves inside your computer or a machine's ventilation system are very bad for it From a gameplay standpoint, four elements with mutual weakness relationships are not as fun or interesting as a triangle or a four point loop (everyone winds up being a glass cannon when fighting his opposition element) but this one is at least fairly intuitive unlike SOME examples I can list. Zero and ZX _only_ have Fire, Ice, and Thunder and no other elements, just some bosses and weapons with an elementally neutral property. Battle Network and Starforce _only_ have Fire, Aqua, Wood, and Elec as well as neutral non-elemental attacks and enemies. There really isn't enough to go over to make videos on these games, not even all four sub-series together. Fire, Ice, and Thunder are also the trio of: Final Fantasy primary Black Magic (though monster weaknesses and resistances are a case by case thing so it's actually interesting to learn within each game and more liable to make at least SOME logical sense), Pokemon's elemental punchers (Magmar, Electabuzz, and Jynx), first three Eeveelutions (Flareon, Jolteon, Vaporeon), legendary birds (Articuno, Zapdos, and Moltres), and the Johto beasts (Raikou, Entei, and Suicune). Vaporeon is Water, yes, and despite its VERY CLEARLY ICE-CODED DESIGN so is Suicune, but ice and water are a conceptual overlap with Pokemon simply happening to choose "Both!" instead of picking one or the other. I'm not aware if either Legends game OR its Tron Bonne spinoff actually has elemental weaknesses present within it at all. I remember the subweapons being things like a rocket launcher, landmine, and laser sword with the tradeoffs having to do with what kinds of distance and arc you can get with them to fight certain enemies in various locations.
@armaggedon390Ай бұрын
What are you talking about with Battle Network? That's not accurate at all. Aqua beats Fire beats Wood beats Elec beats Aqua. >Battle Network and Starforce only have Fire, Aqua, Wood, and Elec as well as neutral non-elemental attacks and enemies. @@FlamingMercury5 It's an interesting set of three to use so frequently. I wonder if it's to do with the fact that these elements can be easily keyed to red, blue, and yellow color schemes, that Dungeons & Dragons gave prominent use to Fireball, Lightning Bolt, and Cone of Cold but less attention to direct damage spells based on other elements like sound or acid, or if there's preceding Japanese cultural cues I'm not familiar with.
