Last year in December I released my first TAS of Hard Type, after watching it I realized all the mistakes I made and set a new goal of getting sub 36. I had to make a few route improvements, as well as discover new tricks, and exploits.

Tricks Used:
Phantom grab - Collecting an item with a boomerang on the same frame that a miscellaneous object (life energy, weapon energy, extra lives, hearts, e-tanks, floating platforms, boss doors) spawns will cause the object to replace the collected item inside the boomerang. This TAS had a total of seven phantom grabs in it.
Charging during projectile travel time - Creating distance between X and a boss before you fire an uncharged shot allows you to gain a head start on your next charge equal to the projectile's travel time.
One Hit K.O. Exploit - when firing at a boss with other destructible objects on the screen the game takes the damage that would have been done to the enemy and applies it to the boss. Also, when too many sprites are loaded, the game gets corrupted and writes the bosses health as zero(null). This then stays in the RAM for the rest of the game.
Luck manipulation - Creating a dust sprite by sliding down a wall and killing an enemy are the only two ways to consistently advance the RNG sequence by two values on one frame. These are the two primary methods of luck manipulation in the SNES Mega Man X games, with delaying movement for one or more frames being used as a last resort.
Possible Improvements:
I lost a four second lead on Flame Mammoth because of a phantom grab.
After getting to Launch Octopus fight I realized that Mandrill, and Armadillo have two weaknesses, that could have save time.
Launch Octopus fight is one of the hardest RNG's to manipulate in the game, and ended up with a pretty sloppy fight.
I lost over 70 frames on Sigma 1 because I couldn't find a platform grab, and a bad vile fight.
Special Thanks:
Hart-Hunt for making the romhack, and over 4,000+ viewers who watched my previous run.
Author's favorites
Storm Eagle, Chill Penguin, Yooka, Sigma 2, and Sigma 3 are my favorite stages. I also especially liked the platform grabs, and phantom grabs as well.
