Since moving to the SNES 16-bit land, Mega Man has taken the secret identity X, but everyone knows it's still him because he's the only blue robot who shoots three pellets at a time at other robots and steals their weapons.
Thanks to a newly discovered trick (namely turnaround kicks) along with further optimisations, nrg_zam ( tasvideos.org/... ) cuts off 4.46 seconds over the previously published TAS ( tasvideos.org/... ). For more details on turnaround kicks, read the author's comments ( tasvideos.org/... ).
For extra curiosity, there is a page "Mega Man X Tricks ( tasvideos.org/... )" that explains some of the tricks that are and/or can be used in the X series games.

I just realized that during your battle with Storm Eagle, the clouds went downwards (Death Rogumer was flying up high), and after defeating him, the clouds went upwards (and at a faster speed), which means the ship was about to fall above Spark Mandrill's stage, causing power outages on that stage as a result.

There's a few more stage interactions like that. If you take on Flame Mammoth's stage before defeating Chill Penguin, the stage turns into a sea of fire.

The attention to detail in this game always amazed me. One of my favorite is that if X is low on health he starts breathing, and if you are in Chill Penguin's stage, his breath condensates into a small cloud due to the cold, reinforcing just how human-like he is.

that's the kuwanger skip, a phantom grab. you need to collect one drop with the boomerang 1 frame (0.0167 second) before another item spawns on screen, so when the item loads into the game's memory it won't spawn in the right place, but inside your boomerang. not every item though, there's 1 specific class of items that can get phantom grabbed. thats how the eagle magic carpet works. That specific class of items is usually called "Misc Items". in this specific case, he grabbed a door to skip the boss

Ideally, you want Bospider to drop straight down without dropping minions. Sadly, there are only a select few ways to influence the RNG in this game, one of which is sliding down a wall out of water. (This is one of the reasons he opted for Mammoth last, instead of Octopus.) You need 8 charged Shotgun Ice shots to kill it, and each shot advances the RNG even further. There's a lot of trial and error to optimizing this fight.

according to the author comments of Hetfield90's 100% TAS: Luck manipulation - Unlike in X2 and X3, X's RNG manipulation techniques are very limited in this game. Killing an enemy or creating a dust sprite via a wall slide increments RNG by 1 value, and breaking an ice sled increments it by 12(which can only be used during vertical movement, since it despawns offscreen before it shatters during horizontal movement). RNG also increments 1 value every frame, so waiting around for 1 or more frames can be used as a last resort.

One time, I was in Flame Mammoth's stage (Japanese version btw), and at one point, an enemy hit me with their mace. I fired the X Buster, but it hit the mace, but as soon as it hit the mace, something weird happened. The game froze for a moment, then the screen fades to black, and the next thing I know, I get the boss' weapon!! It's most likely a glitch of some sort. I don't know how this works, sorry.
