One thing that is not publicly well known is X7 and X8 are the only games where after completing a game, players can save and start a new game from that file. This is actually beneficial as all power-up parts from X7 and Chips purchased in X8 are retained (not to mention it is possible to add more power-up parts for X7 in the new game). In addition for X7, X is available right after the opening stage when using a new game from an old game save data file.

Actually it is connected to 1-8. It's currently the final entry in the timeline taking place after doing "that" at the end of X8. Yes it came out before X8, but 8 was in the works during it's development. Because of that it doesn't continue X8's cliffhanger, but it does have Axl researching his past, and there a few other things are in there. (We're also missing the Xtreme games which are connected, and provide more insight on who Iris is, but I can understand why they wouldn't include GB games.)

Supersonicspyro 24 yep it was supposed to be but once capcom announced X6 Inafune had to make changes to MMZ to fall in line with X6-8 and CM. I love all the X games myself even 7 despite its flaws. X6 was my fav of the PSX titles I loved the Japanese voice acting and all the cool armors available for X.

@Jay t - Mega Man X1 through X5 were part of my childhood. My first time playing Mega Man X6 was 5 years ago when I bought Mega Man X Collection for my GameCube in 2013 and... I was frustrated with Mega Man X6. And I bought the PS2 versions of Mega Man X7 and Mega Man X8 a couple of years ago and played those on my computer in the PCSX2 emulator. A lot of people hated X7 and it's the most hated Mega Man game. I found it "Meh", but I can see why. But I really loved X8, which makes up for X6 and X7. I haven't replayed them in the Legacy Collection yet (as I just finished replaying the first game and about to jump to X2, my favorite in the series) but I'll still replay all the Mega Man X games.

Sorry but I have to disagree with X6 and X8. I’m loving X8 so far, in fact is currently one of my favorite entries in the X series. X6, from what I witnessed, is riddled with bad level design and the characters balance is nearly nonexistent, with X being worse than Zero in nearly every aspect.

nintendolife25 not really... I personally played with X far more often, there are a lot of uses for his abilities and weapons, especially if you experiment with the parts you collect. I'd agree that X8 it's a better game but, although I understand why a lot of people get frustrated with X6, I think it's still a fine game. It's hard, but with abundant checkpoints and infinite continues, it shouldn't be too much of a problem, even if there's some bullshit here and there...

x6 is 100% beatable and you can 100% collect all the items including the armour parts with unarmored x only a casual would say that x6 is unplayable you only need the super jump supper dash and the saber upgrade item and ice power to finish the game as unarmored x easy but most casual x4 worshiper dont even know that

I actually do, and I played both. The part system is more straight forward, theres no arbitrary random system to progress the story, and I'm into the difficulty, I don't think it's as unforgiving as people make it seem. I do get why people get frustrated, there's quite a lot of bullshit design for sure, but it's manageble for the most part. There are checkpoints in every step and lives don't mean anything, just keep trying... think of it as a cuphead type game (minus the effort in animation)

Its 10$ on the switch right now. There has to be 10$ worth of enjoyment here so i picked it up.. I hear x8 isnt that bad and i remember enjoying x5 and x6 when i was a kid, but hell, then I liked almost any game... Though honestly, I have a bad additcion of buying games on switch when they go on sale for 10$. Thats how I ended up with the other Legacy collections, Sonic Mania, and several of the Resident Evil titles.

X-X4 are the best games, hands down. X5 was lazy, X6 wasn't even properly ported to North America, and X7 was and embarrassment. X8 was much better, but the armours you get for X look like absolute crap. Wish they'd make another classic, side-scrolling X game, or that they add the Maverick Hinter X RPG as a DLC or separate release, as that was easily the best X game of them all.
