Mega Man X4 Is One Of The Best Games Ever

The plasma shot is there for your choosing, one of the best things I did was to choose the Stock buster upgrade and experiment with special weapons, it changes alot your perspective about X4, that it's not an easy game actually, but that it gives you options on how to approach your game. Aiming Laser is one of my favorite weapons in the game, you can kill 3 enemies at once while moving, and you can combo it with regular charged buster to kill enemies faster(mermands from Jungle Stage). Twin Slasher is one of my favorites as well as it destroy smaller enemies, think it as a machine gun, and the charged shot one shots every single mobile enemy, amazing. Ground hunter is great for grounded enemies, and it's charged shot is just slow enough for you to go along and combo with other attacks. All the weapons(besides double cyclone) are incredible and has some use on the levels. This game highly rewards the player by replayability, it's always encouraged that you begin with Web Spider. As you get more skilled with the game, it gets easier to begin a run on Cyber Peacock, Jet stingray, Magma Dragoon or even Slash beast. For these and many other reasons I think this game is a masterpiece.(Also I think the Story is way better than people give it credit.)

This is where the X series peaked for me in terms of gameplay. No stupid time countdown like X5, no stupid Nightmare effects like X6, no stupid slow movement like X7, no stupid stage gimmicks like X8.

14:53. Cyber Peacock is not a member of Repliforce, he’s straight up a Maverick, hence why he’s only interested in destruction. Only 5 of the 8 bosses are Repliforce members. Cyber Peacock and Split Mushroom are Mavericks, while Magma Dragoon is a Hunter who turned traitor.

Probably my favorite X game but the first game is right there with it pretty much for me. Mega man is one of my favorite series ever. I’m glad people still talk about the series it deserves to come back.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this game. It is always fun to hear about a game from a true fan's perspective. It is great that you realize it's faults but love it anyway. I loved the first two X games, but I bounced off this one hard because of the awful voice acting and story. I will have to give this another chance though!

I think Mega Man X4 is almost a masterpiece, but had the developers had more time to cook in the kitchen, then we could have gotten an even better game, as the developers had planned even an ultimate armor for Zero, where he would have had a ninja looking mouth piece, kind of like Casshan when he enters battle mode, or MegaMan.exe from Battle Network, and Zero would have had dual weapons, as his buster parts would have given him two beam blades on top of his gauntlets, and while what each of the parts would have done, was not fully disclosed, it would have been nice to see what they would have had done with Zero. From what we got in X4 however, I find it hilarious that Zero gets a waifu as his support character at the Maverick Hunters HQ, while X on the other hand gets an ugly fatso that then turns out to be a freaking traitor, as if X hadn’t been betrayed in the past, since he was betrayed by Sigma, Vile, most of the other hunters at Maverick Hunters HQ, since most of the in game Mavericks used to work for the Maverick Hunters, and even in X3 the game starts with another hunter Mac capturing X, so I think that the whole X allowing for people to betray him so much is a little old at that point, as no matter how naïve X is, you would think that he would somehow learn, but even in Command Mission he still allows for a betrayal…

Hi, I'm new to your channel. Good video. X4 is also my favorite Megaman X game. Some cool facts that are mising from the video. 1) X and Zero voices are a lot better in the Japanese version. 2) The opening and the ending credits both have full songs (They are is suppose to be sing by Iris). This is only available in the Japanese version and in the Japanese version of Rockman X Collection Volume 1. 3) Every single maverick have a voiced phrase before the battle and when they are defeated in the Japanese version. 4) Everything went downhill for the X series after X4 and it was mainly due bad design choices and the lack of anime scenes for the rest of the X games. X4 put up a standard that was not followed by X5 and X6. X7 and X8 were too different and 2.5 is just not the same. 5) There is an "improved" version of X5 called "Mega Man X5 Addendum" where you can get all the armor parts without re visits and Alia doesnt talk every 3 seconds (look for it here in youtube). Is the best way to play X5 which was close to X4 but the lack of anime scenes and bad design choices (mavericks levels, annoying virus infection and alia talking too much) ruined the game.

I don't speak Japanese but I kinda assumed everyone's voices sound much better in the Japanese version lol. I didn't know there were vocal songs in that version. That's pretty cool. I'm aware of the X5 Improvement project and it will be covered in the next video dw :)

@@Flowsona When I said "better" they actually are. X sounds like a 5 year old kid in American version specially when he shoot the mega buster and said something like "Dende!". His voice in the Japanese version is a man voice. Zero also have a badass voice. BTW if you like X4 the most close to its successors are Gravity Circuit and Azure Striker Gunvolt. Mighty Gunvolt Burst is not bad either but is way too "chibi" for most people.

Ok, not getting the heart tank in Web Spider's level is actually genius. In retrospect, even if you are not that great against the bosses, you can definitely afford to have one less heart as long as you have the two subtanks.

12:43 As far as I know, X only gets the ultimate armor from Web Spider's Dr. Light capsule exclusively. If you decide not to pick up the ultimate armor on the first visit, you never get the chance again for the rest of the game.

Final Sigma is always a bitch with Zero cuz it's basically RNG whether or not you get the debris-spit phase or the wind-blowing phase when the giant head spawns, and the debris-spit phase is damn-near impossible to take no damage on w/ Zero. You have to be either a fucking Ultra-Instinct GOD at the game or get perfect RNG to do it with no-damage.

2:27 You can Kill this mini Boss with charged Aiming Laser in less than 2 seconds. Also charged Rising fire kills it fast as well.

Another flaw in this game is the low variety in enemy types. Mega Man 8 has the same problem and it's likely because the larger sprites were more expensive to produce, so the artists only came up with a few enemies and just put them in every level. I've always felt this game was a little too easy even with self-imposed constraints, and this is why. PS: next time play Rockman X4 instead, your ears will thank you

Yeah ik you can do that but I'm so used to playing the game buster-only that I always just do those sections without special weapons. It's more challenging and fun for me. I also didn't have soul body yet with my routing

X4 is probably the best game in the X series of games...some debate on X2 or X for being comparable, but it shows the full potential of the series. X5 and X6 are FAR too up there own attitude, and not enough stubstance to boot. So, yeah.

Game is amazing, but it was actually designed for Sega Saturn not PS1. If you want to really experience the game play the Saturn version.
