Mega Man X6 - Gate's Lab Stage 2

Boss 1: High Max
Boss 2: Gate
Weaknesses: Ha.
This stage is divided into two parts. The first part is practically littered with those Totem Poles from Ground Scaravich's stage. At the end, you face High Max, who has a new tactic of having two walls on his sides. Makes dodging him a little harder given the bigger hitbox and all.
The second half depends on what character you are. If you're X, you deal with more acid rain from Rainy Turtloid's stage. If you're Zero, it's another crusher segment, like in Metal Shark Player's stage. At the end, you fight Gate, who is immune to ALL of your attacks. The only way to damage him is to destroy those orbs he sends out at you, and hope the little fragments hit him. And since Gate sometimes tends to take his time sending them out, this fight could take a while. If he's not shooting orbs, he's chasing you, and since there's a bottomless pit below with very few platforms to stand on, odds are you will fall at least once in this fight. Especially when he unveils a new attack that can destroy said platforms. And of course, Sigma comes in to hijack the game from Gate.

8:01 for the best boss fight in the game. Also fun fact: the crystals on Gate's armor change color depending on which color Nightmare Orb he's about to fire. Plus, if you turn on Rookie Hunter mode before the gate fight in the X Legacy Collection, a FLOOR will show up.

Ikr, they didn't even TRY to make it look decent. It looks like if Mega Man X had a level creator spin off like Super Mario Maker and this stage was made by those players that are Kaizo lovers. Not shitting on the people that like to make kaizo levels in Mario Maker tho, It just looks like one of those in MMX6. The rushed state of the game really shows how badly everything looks like.

Black Zero has shock buffer as well, so you won’t need to equip it. Frees up space.

Just beat the game again, with the same unpleasant memories. Figured out High Max is quite easy to beat (with the Blade Armor), but Gate is a pain in the ass. There is no trick to beat Gate easily, you must develop the skill to navigate the platforms while trying to hit him consistently, taking the least damage possible. Looks easy with Zero because of the double jump, but the blade armor is a pain in the ass to maneuver. I spent two sub tanks and had to use the dragonflies weapon.

Quite the part w/rapid wall jumps in a pit w/the ceiling dropping- and enemies. Gate being invulnernerable, & orb explosions hitting both of you most of the time was tricky. What a cutscene after.

I agree. It just was a bad moment to release it with bad pr. I think despite it haves very good songs (like all MMX abd MM) most of the soundtrack as a whole is a bit inferior to X4 and X5. Most of the complaints about X6 are due to the difficulty. X7 is the really shitty one.
