Mega Man X6: Metal Shark Players Stage- No Damage, Buster Only

Metal Shark Player's stage, the Recycle Lab, from Mega Man X6 for the Sony Playstation PSX. No damage taken, buster only speed run. The Recycle Lab is primarily composed of three long sections, each featuring a massive trash compactor, or descending ceiling, that causes instant death...see Dustman's stage.
Along the way, X will encounter some rather irritating enemy placement composed of Junkroids, Mets, and most notably Nightmares. The Nightmares in particular tend to respawn relatively quickly and can cause trouble while waiting for the compactor to rise. After destroying one, move along quickly in attempt to scroll its respawn point off-screen whenever possible. Note this stage only allows forward progression, no backtracking, as the screen locks and will not scroll in both directions. The Nightmare Phenomenon here, activated by completing Blizzard Wolfang's stage, creates ice-covered surfaces that can only be destroyed with Ice Burst or Hyourouga. The Recycle Lab also features a sub-boss, Nightmare Pressure, which is presumably the core of the trash compactor. After initially deploying several small explosives, it utilizes one of three attacks at random, and can be destroyed by damaging the pink devices that appear from beneath it during each attack cycle.
Metal Shark prefers to spam his Metal Anchors until the room quickly becomes a cluster-fck of anchors spinning in every direction, it doesn't take him long. The Metal Anchors cannot be destroyed, at least not by the buster, but will eventually self-destruct. This encounter therefore proves to be quite unpredictable and will test your reflexes. When he dives into the junk and "swims" just below the surface, he will jump up directly into X, nearly always causing damage as you cross his path from above. However, dashing or wall-jumping over him at the precise moment he leaps up and finishes this maneuver will generally evade damage. Metal Shark's ability to collect DNA also allows him to resurrect past mavericks as seen here when he summons Magna Centipede from X2. Metal Shark Player's weakness is Meteor Rain or Ensuizan.

thanks. and youre right, so close to being perfect. but why? why did i miss the reploid? well, to be honest... complete mistake. after so many attempts, and even having the entire stage memorized, i accidently zipped right by him. my brain half-fried from repeated attempts, i made a stupid error, and didnt realize until rewatching the run after completion. and i guess being eager to move on to the next stage, i called it good. thanks for watching and the kind words.

@@Sliider36 I can definitely understand that. And seriously, everything else you did here was godlike. I didn't play this game until about 5-6 years ago through emulation. I got stuck on this level late at night. My mom was about to sleep in the other room and got frustrated with all my shouting coming from in my room. I didn't think I was that loud and was frustrated that it bothered her so much on top of the level being frustrating (in hindsight, if she can't sleep cause of me then yeah probably my bad), but I was not going to be denied. I took my laptop with me out of the house and into my car until I finally beat the level and saved all the reploids. But I had never faced a Megaman level in the classic or X series that was this infuriating. Mega Man 11 gave it a run for its money with Block Man's stage and the first Wily stage but I still think Metal Shark Player holds a special place in infamously hard video game stage history.

OMG I am Lucky if I beat this level with without dying, you beat this without getting hit. I wonder if you destroyed a gamepad in the proces whahaha.I could imagine that easily. Maybe a stupid question but did you know you could use the mech to stop the crusher from reaching all the way down? Makes the first part a little easier but unfortunatly the second part wil Always have to be done the hard way

Sliider36 This game has not much mercy so the few exploits it has must be shared. So you take the mech to the highest point at the first section and then you simply jumo out. Since the mech is never going to be crushed it jams and directly goes back up, then repeats over and over. This game is certainly the hardest Mega Man game I know. Much respect for the skills you showed here.

One question. How are you planning on no Damaging the Inami temple? I'm asking because of the acid rain. Maybe do a no hit run because no damage seems impossible with the acid rain.

yeah, it's impossible. in fact, the inami temple will be the first stage ive ever encountered, in any mm series, that damage will be completely unavoidable. it will have to be a no damage run by hit detection, like you said. i'll still title it "no damage" though i think, and just clarify in description.

@@Sliider36 it's generally accepted that for no-hit/no-damage runs, damage that is unavoidable, whether it's from weird circumstances such as acid rain (or intense heat, in the case of Bomber Man Hero on the N64...which ALSO has "healing" pads like this), or because it's "scripted" damage (e.g. Sonic Triple Trouble on the Game Gear in the last stage, you WILL get hit by Metal Sonic, sorry), or circumstances where you're forced to "damage your way to victory" (think those Vile encounters in Mega Man X1)

Sliider36 I suppose the only thing that makes the nightmare spawns better is that the falcon armor charged shot fires through walls. It still does here, right? Haven't started X6 in the collection (My girlfriend just bought it for me for Christmas), but I know it does in X5. By the way, I wrote my original comment before you posted the description.

The list of things that made X6 look bad; 1. This stage o'ding with the compactors. 2. X refuse to give up the saber causing Zero to be stuck with some glow stick. 3. Sigma returning. 4. Strange spot light effect in Rainy Turloid and Commander Yammark stage. 5. Poor design compare to X5.

1. You can render the first one completely irrelevant, but it is the entire level, and there's nothing particularly difficult about the trash compactor. just don't let your thumb slip off of down. 2. Zero got new sprites, his dash cancel slash works better now, and he can perform two different aerial attacks! that and X with the shadow armor is the greatest thing ever. 3. Doesn't he always? at least in this game, it actually makes sense. 4. you can prevent that nightmare effect by visiting another stage that effects those levels. 5. X5 had poor design too. The jet bike segment was just retarded, and having heart containers that require armor? Zero cannot collect all hearts! That and the convoluted equipment system was just terrible. so much better in X6.

Trash Compactors, Trash Compactors Oh the Trash Compactors!! made this whole stage a nightmare! and the ice added in makes it worse on the 2nd part that ice screwed me up quite a few times. Great job on Metal Shark Player not sure how you dashed right under the anchors without getting hit heh talk about skill I thought you would avoid them via the walls but nope.
