Somebody did a 16-bit fan demake of this game that addresses a lot of the issues with the official release. I encourage everyone to check it out because what those homebrew developers pulled off is quite impressive.

@@ArchadesGames It really is and in a way that seems to be making the old school fans very happy. It would make a great video. The latest build is more complete but I believe that the developer is still tweaking away at things.

I don't like how X8's plot is handled, and considering this is a post X4 game, with X5 having the only well written plot that wasn't ruined by terrible localization, that's a problem. They just bring back Vile with no buildup or fanfare at all.

@ArchadesGames And it doesn't end with Vile. The Mavericks themselves don't even seem to know why we have to fight them and draw their own conclusions, something even X7 didn't really have a problem with, except with Hyenard, and the twist that Lumine was the villain would've been better if it wasn't so obvious from the start. It's kinda like with Betruger in Doom 3, they try to hide it, but it's still easy to figure out.

@@ArchadesGames Just coming back to say man you have no idea how much that collection means to my son now. He is having loads of fun , enjoys watching all the cards , the manual etc :D Reminds me of me getting my first game as a child I loved the boxing and everything that came with it

If I'm being honest, having to hear Inferno's theme every single time I got a game over was even more excruciating to me than Hyernard's English voice. I hate the level design of X8, not anywhere near as much as X6, but it's still really bad. Edit: Also, X9 won't be my X9. I thought the ending of X8 would tease MegaMan Zero, just like Zero's endings in X6 and X7, but it never did. I honestly think Maverick Hunter X2 would be a better option than X9.
