To me Zero should stay dead, because this is his final moment he willingly died to protect area zero, Zero could've escaped and fight another day, but chose not to, he found his answer to fight and this is his proof, and that made him a hero in my eyes.

That's the thing. Zero has survived much worse than this. That's why many people are convinced that he survived, as just his helmet being found is no indication of what happened to the rest of his body. Then again, however, it's confirmed canon in the Complete Works that Zero's been turned into Biometal Model Z in the ZX games. Just like with X becoming Model X & the Four Guardians becoming their respective Biometals.

I prefer to imagine him dead after this game. For me the true Megaman X series is an overarching plot of X 1-5 into Z 1-4. Forget allll those other games. This ending was perfect, and brought everything in the entire series full circle, all the way back from Megaman 1... Theres just something beautifully poetic about the way this series ends.

@NickCaligo42 Actually, Cyber Elf Elpizo revived him. He loses his helmet, and reappears as Giro (hence the long yellow hair, the nature of the character, etc). He helps Ciel build the Models H, P, L, F, Z, and X, each containing the spirits of their respective characters. The spirits I refer to mean the attitudes of Models reflect the personalities of their origins(X looking for a greater good, F being violent/destructive, Z having a personality shown in Zero's famous phrase in MMZ4's ending).

@RedJokerNFB Correct except one thing; the Maverick Virus still lived on to the ZX series. Otherwise, Giro would not have turned Maverick under the control of Model W(and thus was forced to fight Vent/Aile, and he lost). The enemies Vent/Aile faces are referred to as Maverick ever since Model W forced their protocol to change from "protect humans" to "destroy everything" (Around when you get past the mission where you defeat Giro).

Zero is the traditional Rival to Megaman. In the BN series, this is given with Protoman, and in Star Force, it's Solo and his sword Laplace. Both characters match in Zero's aloof, down to business personality in the Zero games.

@Zoroark7 NO, Wily EXE doesn't exist in the X Series Universe he is different. The only relationship between the 2 Wilys is that Wily EXE was based off Classic Wily just like most of the characters in the Battle Network Series.

@ZIM2KK1 Uhh...small problem in your explanation. Zero's spirit was not really put into Model Z. In fact, he was still alive as the biometals were created, thanks to Cyber Elf Elpizo. He helped create them with Ciel, then disguised himself as Giro later on, aiding Ciel in creating the Guardians, a company that fought Mavericks to keep the people of the world safe. Also, Wily died before the X series (and after the battle network series), and never came back. You might be confusing Wily and Weil.

The X Series is after the Classic Series and and Star Force Series is after the EXE Series so there is no relationship between the two. Basically Classic Wily ≠ EXE Wily Both Wilys ≠ Weil
