What are the Unique Powers of Despicable Me 4's Mega Minions? Dave: He's the first to gain his powers, boasting super strength. Dave easily tears through the metal transformation pod, and his body and arms become much bigger than a typical Minion. The second Mega Minion, Mel, has laser vision. His laser eye produces a red beam that can cut through anything. Tim's power is elasticity, making his body taller and thinner than usual. Jerry's appearance changes to resemble a rock, with a tough, rounded, and cracked exterior. He can eat anything and roll around in his new form. The last Mega Minion, Gus, gains the power of flight. His head becomes cone-shaped, allowing him to soar through the air. According to co-director Chris Renaud, their powers are loosely inspired by Marvel’s Fantastic Four. Jerry’s rock-like abilities are similar to The Thing, and Tim’s elastic body mirrors Mr. Fantastic. Mel’s laser vision is like Cyclops from X-Men, while Dave’s super strength and Gus’s flight are reminiscent of many Marvel heroes.
