8:14 Glad you like the way it drives! You can gear it up pretty tall too, there is a lot of stator crammed in the 540 length. 96% the motor of a roc412HD or Castle 1410!

I put one of the Holmes Hobbies servos in my Axial Bomber and was blown away by its power! I'll be going to them to power my next build! 👍
@SMC-935 жыл бұрын
I have that exact same in my TRX-4 mated to the Holmes Hobbies BLS SHV500v2 Brushless 12V Crawler Servo and Holmes Hobbies Trailmaster BLE Pro ESC. Probably the most expensive group of parts on the truck but I'm not at all disappointed. I'm relatively new to RC crawlers, and channels like yours are what encouraged me to get into it. (And try Holmes Hobbies products)

When I lived in St Louis, MO I met the owner of Holmes Hobby. He makes amazing motors of all sizes. When I was competing at MO state crawler championship he was there on an electric mountain bike that he built. It would do 45+ MPH.

Will send a lot of mud flying that's for sure. Be sure to protect the sensor port. Motor and ESC might be waterproof, the connector is definitely not. I use a think conformal coating kind of glue. It's not one of the spray conformal coating, it's something you have to spread by hands, it's perfect for this use case. I use it on my TRX-4 with sensored brushless motor, works great.
@TheRealRCSparks5 жыл бұрын
Nope.. just some dielectric grease! :)
@HolmesHobbies5 жыл бұрын
Dielectric is perfect for it. If you want to submarine, I would recommend covering the face bearing of the motor too and around the solder tabs where they enter the case. On new housings we have shrank down the hole so there isn't much as bearing showing and less grease needed.

Love the SMT10 platform! I seem to be collecting them these days. Have another Max-D in the box ready to make a dedicated BogHog mud truck (already have wheels and body that I used to switch out with my other Max-D). Can't wait to see how this motor does in the mud! Love the receiver location. I was wondering if you were going to add anti-sway bars to the front, but it doesn't appear to be twisting too bad with your setup. Thanks for continuing to provide inspiration to so many.
