Congratulations on the Cinnamon Teal guys. I've seen a Blue winged and Green winged, but never this one. Well done indeed. Onwards and upwards...

Thanks Marcus. We need all the rare bonus birds we can get. I think it will be tough to make 300 at this point, but we will keep trying.

What an excellent time for rarities in Canada! I found two this week! I still have not seen my lifer cinnamin teal. Fantastic find!

Cinnamon Teal are common near me and they show very obviously from the nearby Blue-winged with their mostly unspotted flanks compared to the very spotted Blue-wingeds.

Yeah, that's a good distinction 👍

@@BritHikesOntario when you first got on the group of three I was like "oooh that bird on the left is very warm-toned and unspotted on the sides."

Congrats on the cinnamon! It's fun to see birds from home make their way to new places!

I still remember your video from San Jacinto Wildlife Area where you saw this bird and we'd been there the year before and not seen it! I was slightly jealous! But yeah, it's awesome to see something so rare land in your home province/state.

That was great footage of the cinnamon teal. I've never seen one, but they're one of my favorite ducks besides the wood duck and the ruddy duck.

We still need Ruddy Duck! Completely missed it in Jan/Feb. So we're hoping it will make a return this winter before the end of the year.

Yeh you definitely should include southern Alberta in your bird count one year. All the teals, and the cinnamons are so pretty in the spring. And soo many owls! Our superstar rare bird this year was a whooping crane! 🙀

Would love to. The only thing constraining us is there's too many nice places and not enough time and money to get there!

Congrats on the Cinnamon Teal!! I never got out to see it unfortunately, but I did see some of these guys in Texas earlier in the year. Such a cool bird for Ontario though!

Yeah, glad we made it out. We were itching to go but had to wait for a day off work. Did you get to see the magpies in Chatham-Kent earlier this year?

Congrats on your lifer, guys! We get them here in central Alberta, but they aren’t overly common. Hope you get to see them in breeding plumage, Sara!
