In england the same thing Garret is going through is common for small villages, but its not done on a personal level the local community can get together to fund the implementation of fibre for a similar price or they can wait for it to be implemented anyway but without any gaurentee of a time frame. I feel like thats probably whats been told to Garret but because it was communicated directly to him that you think its a personal requirement to pay but it probably is the provider saying "If your area can pay this we'll implement it"

From what I heard, dogs with short muzzles like bulldogs and pugs, naturally have breathing problems, so they're already at a higher risk of suffocation on flights. I'm not sure if putting the dog in the overhead compartment made it worse (probably?), but it's definitely something to consider.

Don't put too much stock in the whole "Bain capital ruined TRU" meme. It's a really great story if you remember Mitt Romney being a part of Bain Capital, which is the extent of knowledge to which I believe most people have, but if you actually understand anything about the history of finance, what LBOs are, that Bain was just one group involved, the aggressive buyouts of the early 2000s and the eventually 2008 recession, and that TRU had a shit ton of problems the past 13 years, it's not as simple as "Amazon killed TRU" or "Bain Capital killed TRU". People forget, the reason TRU was bought was because the company was having financial issues. That's why you buy a company. You don't buy a company like Apple, which is already huge and successful. All Bain, KKR, and Vornado did was buy a company that needed help, with hopes to eventually get it public so they could sell off their primary ownership of the company. A Leveraged Buy Out is just one way to buy a company. Without private equity firms, government workers wouldn't have pensions and a lot of people wouldn't have retirement accounts. Now, are they worthy of criticism. Of course! But if people are going to criticize something, it's helpful to actually know what the hell they're talking about (this isn't directed at you, Rocco, to be clear).
