It took me so many tries to get that gold gem DURING the ending cutscene. I've told many of my friends that they should try it and most of them look at me like one of the Clancers. I decided to just scroll down in the YT algo for like 2 entire mins and then click on a random video. It was this one... dude, you seem goofy and whimsical in a very good way. It's refreshing cuz it feels like you're giving your genuine, unscripted thoughts about stuff that interests you (as opposed to the common but annoying feeling I get of content creators performing all the calculated steps to manipulate me to engage and subscribe and other monetization stuff)... not to say I fault people for wanting fame/money... just it kinda is at odds with seeing what random gamers' genuine thoughts are about different games. Nice channel. I appreciate it!

A friend of mine and I wanted this game when it first came out with the N64, but we never got it back then. I would later find out that my head just didn't agree with the N64. I have simulation sickness in some 3D games, and the N64 was particularly bad about triggering it, so I didn't own an N64 for very long. I did eventually find a copy of Mischief Makers and got it for my friend. I knew he wanted it, I so I figured why not pick it up for him? Of course, he's the guy I bought The Misadventures of Tron Bonne for. I also got him a copy of Skies of Arcadia Legends. Also, I had a tendency to dump games on him if I didn't get a chance to play them. He got a copy of Golden Sun 1 and 2 from me, Final Fantasy III(U.S., so Final Fantasy VI), and even Capcom vs Tatsunoko. So, anyway, I never played this one. Apparently, it started out being developed for the SNES, but got moved over to the N64. I watched my friend play it for about thirty minutes. It didn't trigger my sickness terribly much, but it was enough that I decided I was going to pass on it. Oh, yeah. The record for a game triggering my sickness goes to an N64 game called _Space Station Silicon Valley_ . My friend and I watched the intro, and I watched him play the game for about a minute, and I was in REALLY bad shape. I was nauseated and about to get a headache.

@@Ninnintender The good news is there were enough of the good games that didn't give me issues. Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 64 were fine. I picked up a PlayStation about that time. I never played a game on it that gave me an issue. I joined the Marines and stayed pretty busy for a few years. The Gamecube launched about the time I was looking for some new games, so I donated the few N64 games I had left to the single Marine lounge on base and picked up a Gamecube.

I actually got this game when it was new, but I've since lost it in a less than amicable moving house. It felt like I'd found some hidden weird gem. It was right as the weirder anime were getting ported to the US, I think, but I didn't get the connection. There were other weird games, like Lode Runner 3D. But that one felt so much more creepy, while this one was just unpredictably weird to me. I played DK64 a lot more, but I still loved this game.

FYI Mischief Makers was far and away Treasure's best selling game at the time (something like 20,000 units). Back in around year 2000 I got an N64 precisely for the three Treasure games on it, and I loved working through Mischief Makers despite it being the least favourite. Anyway, I enjoyed your thoughts on it particularly as I can only recall the odd scene here and there. I think I'd struggle mastering it today because I'm too old and impatient for the fiddlier aspects of its design. For what it's worth my all time favourites Treasure games are probably Sin and Punishment and Gunstar Heroes.
@Ninnintender11 күн бұрын
20,000 units worldwide? That doesn’t seem right. Where did you find this info? If true that really makes me wonder how much dynamite headdy and gunstar heroes sold. No way mischief makers beat mcdonalds treasureland adventures in sales.

I have 100%ed the game. in fact, there's one extra gold gem that can be easily missed. You get an extra gold gem in the ending if you've gotten an average of an A rank for every stage. (Or was it an A on everyyhing? Or an average of S? S ranks are possible on some levels.) If that's done, the ending changes slightly in a place involving Teran (the Clancer you control on those two levels). You need that gold gem to see the very _very_ final part of the ending. It's definitely an underrated classic!
