The technicality of the drumming is what makes this song a gem to most drummers, Drover doesn't deliver what the song requires, it's too bad Mustaine won't upgrade. I've been to 14 Megadeth concerts since 1990 and Drover always disappoints. Menza & Degrasso always kicked ass live.

It's in 5/4 time, definitely something Chuck would have utilized. What I like about Dave's incorpation of odd-time is that he doesn't try to be as technical as possible. He just writes what sounds good. I'm not alluding to Chuck overusing odd-time. Chuck was a brilliant player as well.

This may not be the "best" metal song ever, but it is almost perfect: 1) Thrashy opening to get your attention 2) Moody build up with lots of contrasts: hard/soft, fast/slow 3) Great topic and opening line:A magician's apprentice saying: Bestow upon me knowledge, wizard, all-knowing, all-wise" 4) Awesome, jazzy interlude with psycho drums and guitar parts. 5) Amazing climax with a chant-able chorus. 6) Use of "Olde Englsihe" grammar: "magic" ir rarely used in the plural form in modern American English. 7) Just a carnivorous riff throughout that really gallops along. 8) and finall, a return to the opening motif, higher and higher. Like I said, just about the perfect metal song...
