Chris and Marty are by far my favorite Megadeth lead guitarists. I’m so glad that Chris Poland is finally recognized for the true genius he really is. He has such an original and the most fluid legato style I’ve ever heard. Nobody has ever played like that before or since. It’s a beautiful beautiful thing. Can’t wait to get Metalopolis on vinyl now that it’s been re-released. I had the original on CD but there was some bluegrass band’s album on the cd. It was the famous misprint. Finally I can correct that and get the real thing, and on vinyl no less. Super excited. Chris really should be mentioned in the same breath as all the greats. He’s so good that I can’t say that Marty is better, they’re just very different and both very original and both have some of the best control and phrasing of any metal guitarist who’s ever lived, right up in their own league when it comes to control. The SRVs and Kossoffs of metal. Although Chris is a jazz musician as well, his roots.

This remaster was definitely not as bad as the RIP 2004 remaster. Luckily they didn't lose the vocal master tracks of Mustaine's recording from 86 ( *cough* Five Magics, Take No Prisoners, Lucretia *cough* ). Definitely prefer the guitar parts of both Poland and Mustaine's on the remaster compared to the original. The backing tracks though were a lot more well-rounded and sounded more cohesive in the original, especially the bass intro to Peace Sells.

@@nathaninostroza7655 I'm not sure how successful Metallica was with the production competition, considering AJFA, lol. Ride the Lighting is probably my favorite (if not, then Master of Puppets). @zzzhuh RIP is not overrated. It's earned every acclaim. The solos are only a part of the albums. What made RIP so great was Dave's writing was at it's peak. It's the songs not the solos that make a song great. You can have a shit song with a good solo, and it's still going to be a shit song. You can have an amazing song with a shit solo, and it will still be an amazing song. That said, Marty was great, but RIP was a punishing album. Start to finish. Does any old school guitarist know what Dave was saying about the Rockman? I know what they were as I've been playing guitar since they were in guitar magazine ads but I don't understand how they influenced Peace Sells. I could have just had too many beers but if someone could shed some light on what he might have been trying to say that they badly edited, would be awesome.
@Johnny66665 жыл бұрын
The Rockman Sustainor & Distortion Generator rack units were high gain studio units that were ideally plugged into a console or power amp to shape guitar tones. They typically were not plugged straight into amps or, if so, were drastically EQ'd both pre and post. If you do a KZbin search for the video "Perfect Sound Rock Refurbs Video #1", you'll see how those units sound in a metal context - although that video, to my ears, feels closer to a Megadeth 'So Far, So Good' tone than 'Peace Sells'. I think the general point Mustaine was making concerned the use of rack units like the Rockman stuff in making a shift from pure amp driven tone to a more sculpted studio tone for 'Peace Sells'. They had the time and money with the 2nd album to do that, whereas 'Killing Is My Business' was effectively a raw, low budget process.
