@lassesuurmunne8340
@lassesuurmunne8340 4 жыл бұрын
Chris and Marty are by far my favorite Megadeth lead guitarists. I’m so glad that Chris Poland is finally recognized for the true genius he really is. He has such an original and the most fluid legato style I’ve ever heard. Nobody has ever played like that before or since. It’s a beautiful beautiful thing. Can’t wait to get Metalopolis on vinyl now that it’s been re-released. I had the original on CD but there was some bluegrass band’s album on the cd. It was the famous misprint. Finally I can correct that and get the real thing, and on vinyl no less. Super excited. Chris really should be mentioned in the same breath as all the greats. He’s so good that I can’t say that Marty is better, they’re just very different and both very original and both have some of the best control and phrasing of any metal guitarist who’s ever lived, right up in their own league when it comes to control. The SRVs and Kossoffs of metal. Although Chris is a jazz musician as well, his roots.

Well Dave Mustaine said it himself in an interview a few years ago, he said something about Kiko was the only guitarist the actually made Dave Mustaine feel like he’s got competition. Now personally, I like Chris Poland bc of his jazz style, however I truly think Kiko was Megadeths only guitar player that truly intimidated Dave as a musician. Dave loves Marty bc they had complete opposite styles but it worked(Rust In Peace)

So much more than that. They werent that rage handed as in killing, but they ve found their groove. The compositive department is debugged, finally. Without the standard peace sells brought to the table, RIP wouldn t of happened. Rust in peace is Megadeth falling in Metallica s game. Peace sells is surpassing Metallica, bigtime. As far as composition in Thrash metal goes. PHUCK Metallica s big sound by justice to black album. Megadeth was all about ground breaker music by peace sells era, and they nailed. Period.

@Beholder505 The songs on peace were amazing though not just because of the solo's but the feel of the whole album. The subjects that were introduced in peace sells were just out of this world. Killing is my business was the same way, with it's erratic subjects around death and killing. RIP was great don't get me wrong but the jazzy/thrashy feel is what I prefer on those first two records and I'd listen to them beginning to end every day if I could.

Outstanding!! Fascinating look inside the formation of an band that (in retrospect) was a complete Paradigm Shift for those of us whose paradigms were still reeling from (in my case) the first time I ever heard the intro to "Seek and Destroy". I say thank god Dave left Metallica! All of us metal heads are far better off that those 2 Alpha Dogs didn't play well together. Their music is sublime, and metal as we know it today might be far less interesting!! Bravo to both bands for their contributions to Metal!!

This remaster was definitely not as bad as the RIP 2004 remaster. Luckily they didn't lose the vocal master tracks of Mustaine's recording from 86 ( *cough* Five Magics, Take No Prisoners, Lucretia *cough* ). Definitely prefer the guitar parts of both Poland and Mustaine's on the remaster compared to the original. The backing tracks though were a lot more well-rounded and sounded more cohesive in the original, especially the bass intro to Peace Sells.

@@nathaninostroza7655 I'm not sure how successful Metallica was with the production competition, considering AJFA, lol. Ride the Lighting is probably my favorite (if not, then Master of Puppets). @zzzhuh RIP is not overrated. It's earned every acclaim. The solos are only a part of the albums. What made RIP so great was Dave's writing was at it's peak. It's the songs not the solos that make a song great. You can have a shit song with a good solo, and it's still going to be a shit song. You can have an amazing song with a shit solo, and it will still be an amazing song. That said, Marty was great, but RIP was a punishing album. Start to finish. After Marty, Chris Poland is BY FAR the best guitarist Dave ever had. I don't give a flying fuck about "technical ability" because that is not what it's about. The ONLY thing that matters , with regard to guitar solos, is NOTE SELECTION..... FUCK YOUR TECHNIQUE... all guitarists after Marty Friedman just don't fucking matter at all. All of Chris Roboterick and Kiko loureiro solos are inconsequential.. but...POLAND and MARTY solos.... They have to be played AS RECORDED ON THE ALBUM because they are brilliant and memorable and the fans want to fucking hear them as recorded. They are memorable, powerful, and completely satisfy the listener... To recap: fuck Roboterick and Kiko

Does any old school guitarist know what Dave was saying about the Rockman? I know what they were as I've been playing guitar since they were in guitar magazine ads but I don't understand how they influenced Peace Sells. I could have just had too many beers but if someone could shed some light on what he might have been trying to say that they badly edited, would be awesome.
@Johnny6666
@Johnny6666 5 жыл бұрын
The Rockman Sustainor & Distortion Generator rack units were high gain studio units that were ideally plugged into a console or power amp to shape guitar tones. They typically were not plugged straight into amps or, if so, were drastically EQ'd both pre and post. If you do a KZbin search for the video "Perfect Sound Rock Refurbs Video #1", you'll see how those units sound in a metal context - although that video, to my ears, feels closer to a Megadeth 'So Far, So Good' tone than 'Peace Sells'. I think the general point Mustaine was making concerned the use of rack units like the Rockman stuff in making a shift from pure amp driven tone to a more sculpted studio tone for 'Peace Sells'. They had the time and money with the 2nd album to do that, whereas 'Killing Is My Business' was effectively a raw, low budget process.

I think that 'Chris' doesnt want to rejoin the band...And maybe he doesnt feel up to 'touring'...( He's in his early 60s now...Born in 1957 )...Also, I think Dave asked him to return, around 2003, and Chris only agreed to write and record solos for 'The System Has Failed' album...( When I saw Chris' name in the song credits...I thought he had returned then...Such a disappointment that he couldn't write 'more' music with the band )

@@doriandesjardin9312 there's that; and then on the RIP remaster there are demos that Chris recorded when he was considering rejoining the band at that point. Dave didn't pay Chris, and Chris filed a lawsuit

So. Makes sense. She’s an old dinosaur and something he read that she said worked for a song title. Big hairy assed deal.

I am here to take a stand for So Far, So Good, So What.. Better than KIMB and PSBWB. My foot is down, and my mind is made. "You guys always act like you're better than me".

Mustaines explanations and voice is so goofy and annoying. Megadeths image is made out to be tough but he is not.
