Yes - advantage is that my ring finger is already in position coming off the 5th string. So it’s easier for me to do 4321 with ring to middle to first and first finger again.

Yes - don’t worry about the speed yet. Make sure you start slow… about 75% of the normal speed. His riffs are pretty straight forward but when he plays as fast as he does they sound wild… so just start slow. The speed will come my friend
