"We are going to see the bands Megadeth and Suicidal Tendencies"( my brother Rob showing me concert tickets in hand). It was the evening of November 5, 1992, when we crammed in the family caravan and headed to Fairfax, VA to the Patriot Center to see Megadeth. I listened to them, but mostly to bands such as Metallica, Pantera, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains and others during that time. Their set list consisted of hits such as "Holy Wars", "Tornado of Souls", "Peace Sells", "Countdown to Extinction, and "Rust in Peace", to name a few. I was a fairly new drummer, and like most young drummers during that time period, Lars and Vinnie Paul were the drumming kings. This show would not only change me musically, but it inspired me immensely and introduced me to a different style of drumming that still makes the hair stand up on my neck to this day. Nick Menza had a unique style of drumming that really stood out to me. It was unlike any other music in that genre and I really appreciated that even at a young age.
Fast forward 24 years, and on May 21, 2016 we learned of Nick's tragic death. It was a sad time to hear of his passing, as he inspired me and countless other drummers tremendously. When I started my KZbin channel one year ago, I decided to do an annual tribute to Nick. My first video was "Holy Wars...The Punishment Due", which was entered into a KZbin drum cover competition and received likes, views, and shares from people from various backgrounds. I dedicated the video to Nick and as a "thank you" for his inspiration over the years. People come into your life for a reason. Whether they stay or go, it's when you figure out what it is, that you'll know exactly what to do. So....to honor Nick again, I have created another video as a tribute to his legacy. RIP Nick. Thank you for your inspiration. Gone but not forgotten.🙏

Kyle this is amazing to say the least, the drum intro may be my favorite drum intro of all time and you absolutely owned it, this is definitely my fave Megadeth tune too! The video quality and angles are perfect, you can see exactly what your doing and also super entertaining and visually compelling. You obviously have your audio recording and mixing down to a science, sounds amazing, makes the studio version sound way better! Covers don`t get any better than this, you should be proud of your work brother! Usually people who cover Nick’s drums don’t pay attention, for example how people try to cover Holy Wars but forget the ghost notes on the opening instrumental. Ok so from 3:35 to 3:50 I hear double bass kick, but I see you hitting singles notes.. no I ain’t criticizing your drumming..

Hey man thanks so much for your comment and taking the time to watch and feedback. I really respect and appreciate you. However, the pattern in that part prior to 3:37 is double kicks. At 3:37, in the track, the double kicks and rides switch roles. What you are hearing is the ride bell and double strokes on a single kick making it sound like their is doubles being played like the pattern before. Cheers from Atlanta amigo!👊🏻🤘
