I got this bass last Saturday and I love it more than any bass I have ever played! I have 6 basses and 1 guitar, and this is by far the best of all my basses, even beating a p bass! This bass has persuaded me to only ever by jackson instruments in the future. I really hope they make a 5 string model Kelly Bird in the near future as I will surely be picking one up! The bass came fully in tune and set up, I have had to make no adjustments to the action so far. The bass is extremely hard to make go out of tune whilst playing - I have only had to tune it once in my 2 weeks of ownership! I love the paint job and finish on this bass. I haven't played it on stage yet, but I am sure it will look amazing when I do! It certainly sounds amazing and I use EMG active pickups on my other basses, but the passive (HZ) pickups work perfectly with the active EQ. I cannot fault this bass in any way!

Looks extremely neck-heavy. I’ve had 2 Thunderbirds and really disliked them. Always holding the neck up. 4 inline tuners isn’t very ergonomic. That’s why I prefer Musicman basses. Sound better too!

I like 5 string and 6 string basses I own an 1986 Ibanez Roadstar II RB650 4 string bass that thing has so much neck dive for a p bass copy. I want a Flying V bass I've been trying to build a Rhoads style 6 string fretless bass but I never got the chance to ask the carpentry department at my vocational high school to build the body and neck.

I have this bass. really like the tone and feel of it.only complaints I have of it is its almost impossible to find a hard shell case to fit it. I finally ordered a case for a 5 string and had to pull out the felt. do a little carving of the foam inside and reapply the felt. it fits..but such an ugly case. also wish they went with the shark tooth inlays instead of the rectangle. would have looked sharper. but still very much like this bass. almost went with the 5string but it only comes in blue

For the case, just buy a nice looking explorer bass case and than modify it slightly so this fits!

Good idea. I ended up using a 5string concert bass case. And cutting the foam and redoing the felt. Works good looks good on inside. But an ugly case on the outside. Still think jackson should have cases for thier more unique shaped basses

Jaymz C I agree, personaly even feel like you should be able to order it with your bass. Like : 15 euro extra gigbag 100 euro extra case. So that it's a safe way to send to you as well

You can get vinyl neck graphics in shark inlays and change the block look . I agree they definitely should have went with the shark tooth or fin inlays either would have rocked , but now we all just have to customize them ourselves lol

I just wish they would make that same bass with rose wood fretboard . I never been into the maple fretboard because you dont get that warm tone like you would from a rose wood fretboard . but its still a beauty ! I do plan on trading in my jackson rhodes V for one of them kelley bird basses . they are badass . I will be putting in the DC30 emg active pickups rather than the emg hz pickups . that way I'll have active pickups and active EQ

I just think the maple fretboard fucks up the tone rather than having the rosewood fretboard . you just dont get that warm tone with the maple fretboard . I would rather get the kelley bird with rosewood fretboard and put the DC40 emg pickups in it and that would be a tone to be reconed with . now their concert basses sound great with the emg HZ pickups
