I've had a lot of influences since i started playing bass. I've changed my top 5 bass players a lot over the years, BUT Dave has always been in my top 5.

I love the flipped P pickup, I never understood reinforcing the higher strings with the pickup closer to the bridge and vice-versa. I def see this with tele’s, companies have actually designed a tele bridge with the pickup slot tilted the opposite direction to tighten up the low end and get some of the shrill tele tone out of the high-end. Definitely rounds out the instrument and fills the room better. I absolutely love Fender and Jackson but I don’t own either cause I play a lot of solo bass stuff and I need me my 24 frets. So it’s MTD! MTD basses are the absolute best, there are no necks out there that feel as good as their asymmetrical necks.

David Ellefson is one of the coolest bassists out there. So many great parts in so many great songs over the years and he has something that many of his peers do not - humility! He comes across as a really humble and friendly person, despite being incredibly talented. Thanks for a great video Premier Guitar!

When he was a kid he bought albums based on the cover art. Does that ring a bell with anyone out there? It does with me .. the first record I bought was News of the World solely based on the cover art. I had inherited Monkees Headquarters as a child and was looking for something. Kinda funny that The Monkees was what turned me on to music. Everything from Roy Clark, SRV, Metallica and don't leave out the classical strings and horns. Music is in my bones because of Art.

What a great guy. Great player. Holding down the bottom end for Mustaine & the boys in those early days was not easy, but he is considered one of the better bassist today.

Ever notice how close to you got another thing coming is to this song's intro?? kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWnPqnSKgJZlhqs As for pick vs. Fingers I too use both but for the metal I play mostly it's a pick. My channel has had some sucess in chaning attitudes to pick use.
