Out of all the Wake Up Dead drum covers there are no one that i myself have came across could execute the ghosted notes that you can hear when he does the snare roll and symbol hits at 2:27.
@komputerLuek8 жыл бұрын
Mustaine himself described this as Gar's signature move. I'm no drummer, but I imagine it involves lot of hand/full arm movement and is hard to deliver at such tempo, as he was said to hit each cymbal with different hand, playing the whole sequence with alternative strokes. although I might be wrong, maybe he was talking about something else...

Megadeth recently uploaded the new drummer, Dirk Verbeuren, playing it live. Look it up here on KZbin - he does a good job replicating it. I don't think Menza does it for his cymbal promo vid.

what's that sound at 2:43? Sounds like a reversed snare or something
@johnmaddox17122 жыл бұрын
I was going to ask the same. It sounds to me like yeah it’s a reversed snare hit sound probably from an Eventide H3000 unit of the day. It would’ve been done post and recorded off a send track

Andy Hall both of them are jazz drummers, just Nick was simple. In some of his songs you can hear a jazzy type of beat, like Holy Wars. That ain’t any beat, that is jazz/funk beat mixed with thrashy tones in it. Both are really great drummers. Can’t see why everyone can’t like both without having to argue who is better!
@maxdurk46246 жыл бұрын
Ydna Llah Nick and Gar are both different players. Nick plays that part with a totally different feel. I find it hard to see how people think Gar's version is better, though.

It's not all about "being fast", it's the groove, the feel, the urge that you wanna shake yo booty, that makes a drummer stand out. Lars can't even figure out what a paradiddle is.
