@@zakkman How the fuck is this easier? On album he's using legato, while here he picks every single note. You are basically picking 5 notes once if you use legato, how is that harder?

@@Buraz93 Legato picking this is harder. On the ascending run the alternate picking doesn't pose much of a challenge because each bunch of 16th note triplets is on the same string. The articulation masks some slopiness on the left hand, with legato your hand sync needs to be spot on and it's harder to mute the strings you're not playing. On the descending run I'm not sure it makes much difference. He also gets several notes um "different" from the album in the ascending 16th note run at around 0:08. That one is basically just a harmonic minor pattern.

I'm telling you. Dave Mustaine can actually shred and he obviously knows some scales. I think he just prefers to do the crazy pentatonic stuff a lot, because it's actually harder than it sounds. I have no problems learning Tornado of souls, the solo and everything. I can play all Marty's solos on Five Magics, Holy wars, poison was the cure and more. I'd say I'm pretty advanced after playing for 23 years, but I can't play the last solo of Holy wars. Dave is actually an amazing guitarist in my opinion.

@@srt4b yea I guess it sorta was. Lol but I had to go to music school and practice for years to even be able to understand Marty's solos. And they still blow my mind. So I'm definitely not on their level. But it's very true what I said about Dave. He's my favorite song writer and one of my favorite guitarists.

This is nice example how Dave is not the most skilled at soloing technics but use wisely what he knows. He has been using same kind of playing technics through his career but can always invent something new from those. What a master mind :)
